Abstract
A system for providing an enclosed safe space for children to sleep in comprises a large bag into which a mattress is placed , the bag is then attached either to the ceiling, to a freestanding frame or to the underside of a top bunk (10 ) when used in a bunk bed. The bag may be made from such materials ( 7 ) as PVC , nylon netting or rip stop nylon. A zip ( 4 ) may be fitted to allow access to the interior.
Description
24067 8 6 I. SAFETY BED SYSTEM.
The safety bed system is a system whereby a mattress is placed in the bottom of a large bag, which is then attached either to the ceiling or a free standing frame with a hook, in the case of use on a bottom bunk the bag would be fixed to the underside of the top bunk using a cord system.
This system is designed to be made of material such as PVC and rip-stop nylon in conjunction with nylon netting, making it lightweight and portable, while fitting most standard beds.
Entry to the bed system is through a doorway which is closed with a zip.
The idea came about to solve the problem of a five year old with special needs, who would not stay in a normal bed and was capable of climbing out of a cot.
Special beds for these children are exceptionally expensive so the idea was to make a cheaper system, which could be used in conjunction with standard beds. The system can also be used for children making the transition from cot to bed, as it will prevent them falling out.
The bed system provides a safe, cosy space for children to sleep in while providing easy access. 2.

1. Material to reinforce nylon mesh.
2. Material base extending under the mattress and up above mattress sides, to give a semi rigid space for the child to sleep.
3. Mattress.
4. Two way zip to allow entry to the enclosed space.
6. Loop to hook to ceiling or free- standing frame.
6. Plastic rods to maintain integrity of the bag above the mattress.
7. Nylon netting on all four sides to make up top of the bag.
8. Eyelets for rope to attach to upper bunk bed.
9. Base material to go under the mattress.
10. Bunk bed slates.
11. Rope running through eyelets and around bunk frame.
12. Adjustable catch to fasten rope.
13. Bunk bed frame.
