Abstract

A fishing line clip 1 in which the fishing line 11 is held by a line gripping mechanism comprising two spheres 4. The two spheres protrude into a slot 2 formed in the body of the device and are held together by the action of springs 5. The pressure of the springs acting on the spheres is controlled by adjusting screws 6. The spheres are free to rotate allowing for the line to be easily withdrawn from the clip without damage to the surface of the line. The clip which may be made of transparent acrylic, contains an inner chamber 7 which may be used to accommodate a light for use in night fishing. A screw thread 8 in the base of the device allows it to be fastened to a bite indicator arm.

MULTI-HEAD
The Multi-head is an invention, which relates to modem fishing techniques, in which the use of electronic bite alarm plus some fomm of visible indicator is used.
The Multi-head has been designed to grip the fishing line in a positive way but without causing any damage to the line's surface/profile.
Recently the use of braided lines has become more popular, but because the diameters of braided line are lower than Nylon line, the Problem of gripping the line has become an even greater problem - the Multi-head has been invented to solve this problem.
The Multi-head comprises of a main body made of Acrylic, which has a slot machined into the top for the line to locate into, fitted centrally into both sides of the slot are spring loaded stainless steel spheres (ball bearings).
The spheres provide the mechanism for holding the line in place.
In order to fit the line (be it Nylon or Braid) the line is pulled into the slot in a downward motion, because the spheres are spring loaded the spheres separate to allow location of the line. With an upward motion of the line the spheres open again to release the line when required.
The spring pressure on the spheres can be adjusted by means of the two Screws, which when turned clockwise or anti-clockwise, increase or decrease the pressure the springs exert onto the spheres.
Because the spheres are spring loaded plus can also rotate, line damage can be avoided even when Substantial force is required e.g. for braided line.
The main body of the Multi-head being made of Acrylic can be transparent or tinted in colour for high visibility, also an inner chamber is provided in the centre of the Main body to allow an Isotope to be fitted for night use.
The Isotope chamber is partly threaded to allow the Multi-head to be screwed on to What ever type of indicator being used.
The following drawings show the Multi-head in detail.
FIGURE I shows a front view of the invention showing the internal parts.
FIGURE 2 shows a 3-dimensional view of the main body.
FIGURE 3 shows the parts in separate form.
FIGURE 4 shows the invention with line fitted as in use. 2.
AS SHOWN IN FIGURE I,THE MULTI-HEAD COMPRISES OF A MAIN CYLINDRICAL BODY 1,WHICH HAS SLOT 2 LOCATED CENTRALLY IN THE TOP.
IN THE BASE IS A CHAMBER 7,1N WHICH AN ISOTOPE MAY BE FITTED, THE CHAMBER 7 IS ALSO PARTLY THREADED 8, IN ORDER TO FIT WHAT EVER KIND OF INDICATOR THE MULTI-HEAD IS BEING USED WITH.
ALSO SHOWN IN FIGURE l, IS THE LINE GRIPPING MECHANISIM WHICH COMPRISES OF - SPHERES 4 WHICH PROTUDE INTO THE SLOT2 FROM EACH SIDE OF THE SLOT.
EACH SPHERE 4 IS UNDER SPRING TENSION BY SPRING 5, WHICH IS HELD IN LOCATION BY SCREW 6.
SCREWS 6 ALSO PROVIDES ADJUSTMENT OF THE PRESSURE THE SPRING EXERTS ONTO THE SPHERES (TO PROVIDE ADJUSTMENT FOR DIFFERENT DIAMETER LINES) FIGURE 2 SHOWS A THREE DIMENSIONALVIEW OF THE MULTI-HEAD CLEARLY SHOWING THE SLOT 2 AND THE ADJUSTMENT SCREW 6.
FIGURE 3 SHOWS THE MULTI-HEAD IN ITS COMPONENT PARTS FORM, SHOWING THE ORDER IN WHICH SPHERE 4, SPRING 5 AND SCREW 6 FIT INTO TREADED HOLE 3.
FIGURE 4 SHOWS THE MULTI-HEAD WITH LINE 9,FITTED, ALSO WITH AN INDICATOR ARM l 0, FITTED AS IT WOULD BE IN USE.
AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1, THE LINE I 1 WHEN FITTED IS HELD IN PLACE IN THE VOID UNDERNEATH THE SPHERES 4, WITH THE SPRING TENSION HOLDING THE SPHERES IN A CLOSED POSITION.
AN UPWARD MOTION OF THE LINE l l CAN RELEASE THE LINE l l, FROM THE SLOT2, AS THE SPHERES 4 CAN OPEN OUTWARDS DUE TO THE CONTROLLED MOVEMENT PROVIDED BY SPRINGS 5. 3.

Claims (3)

1. A FISHING LINE CLIP, WHICH INCORPORATES A PRECISE METHOD OF HOLDING THE LINE, (BE IT MADE OF NYLON OR BRAIDED CONSTRUCTION), IN A POSITIVE MANNER WITHOUT CAUSING SURFACE DAMAGE TO THE LINE.
2. HAVING SPERICAL BALLS WHICH HAVE THE ABILITY TO ROTATE AND MOVE AS REQUIRED UNDER SPRING TENSION, ALLOWING FOR FREE MOVEMENT OF THE LINE WHEN REQUIRED e.g. WHEN A FISH BITES.
3. THE MULTI-HEAD INCORPORATES ALL THE CRITERIA REQUIRED IN ONE COMPACT UNIT.
* A LrNE CLIP.
* A HIGHLY VISUAL BODY.
* THE ABILITY TO FIT AN ISOTOPE INTERNALLY FOR USE IN DARKNESS OR LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS.
* THE ABILITY TO FIT ONTO ANY FORM OF INDICATOR (THREAD TYPE COMPATABLE) BY MEANS OF THE SCREW THREAD IN THE BASE.
