Abstract

Arterial haemodialysis graft comprising a synthetic tube with at least one single way valve 1. Preferably the graft has a variable internal diameter and may incorporate an anticoagulant. The graft filters the blood and may be connected only to arteries without the need to vein. The valve 1 may create a chamber of high pressure 3 and the variable internal diameter may create a chamber of high velocity 2 within the valve.

Description

Arterial haemodialysis graft This invention relates to an arterial
haemodialysis graft.
Background
The conventional haemodialysis grafts used in chronic renal failure patients are synthetic tubes. The grafts are inserted surgically under the skin. One of its ends is connected to a vein and the other end is connected to an artery. Blood would normally flow from the artery to the vein through the synthetic tube. Haemodialysis is achieved by connecting the dialysis machine to the synthetic graft by inserting two needles; one take blood and the other returns blood back.
In the absence of a suitable vein due to occlusion or thrombosis, patient might die due to lack of dialysis access.
Technical features Arterial haemodialysis graft comprising a synthetic tube with at least one single way valve, variable internal diameter and coated with anticoagulant substance.
Description of the drawing
Fig 1 is a side view of the graft which would have different length and diameter.
1 is the single way valve. 2 is the chamber of high velocity created by variable internal diameter.3 is the chamber of high pressure created by the single way valve.
One end of this graft will be connected to an artery and the other end is connected to the same artery or a different artery.
Fig 2 is a side view of a different shape of the graft, 1 is the single way valve, 2 is the chamber of high velocity and 3 is the chamber of high pressure.
Detailed description
This invention is a bout a specific dialysis graft designed specifically to be connected only to arteries without the need to vein. The graft will be inserted surgically under the skin, one end will be connected to any artery in the body and the other end will be connected to the same artery or different artery.
The dialysis graft which could be made of any synthetic material will have different length and different diameter according the size of the arteries. The inside the graft there is at least one single way valve 1 which will create a chamber of high pressure 3, a variable internal diameter to create a chamber of high velocity 2.
The graft and the valve might be incorporated with an anticoagulant to prevent clot formation.
