Abstract
240,447. Hackethal, P. F. Sept. 25, 1924, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Gaseous seals for prerenting escape of lubricant past pistons. - Escape of oil past the piston into the cylinder head of an engine or pump is prevented by supplying a gaseous medium under a pressure greater than atmospheric into an annular groove 7 in the cylinder wall. In a two-stroke internal-combustion engine fitted with a blower 6 for scavenging and recharging the cylinder through a passage 5 in which a pressure slightly greater than that in the crank case is maintained by the blower, the groove 7 is connected with the passage 5 through a hole 8.
