Abstract

A headset <B>4</B> for use with mobile phones, personal music players or other mobile communications devices is designed to be attached to the user's body by means of a stud <B>5</B> into a piercing. It can be attached to the earlobe and may incorporate a battery <B>6</B>, transmitter, receiver, aerial <B>9</B>, microphone <B>7</B> and speaker <B>8</B> in one unit. The headset can communicate with the mobile phone <B>1</B> via Bluetooth technology.

Description

Mobile phone headset This invention relates to headsets for use with
mobile phones, personal music players or other mobile communications devices.
Many mobile phones are configured to permit the use of "hands free" headsets.
The headsets incorporate a microphone, earphone and a headband or similar attachment device. The headset is generally connected to the communications device by electrical cable. More recently wireless headsets have been introduced such as the "Bluetooth" system which incorporates a short range radio transmitter/ receiver in the headset for wireless intercommunication with the mobile communications device.
According to the present invention a headset is provided which may be attached to the body by means of body piercings, such as for example the earlobe, and is provided with radio transmitter/receiver to permit wireless intercommunication with the mobile communications device. The mobile communications device may contain means for recording and storing music, eg an MP3 device, to permit use as a personal music player. A "base station" incorporating a battery charger may be provided.
One specific embodiment of the invention will be described by reference to the drawings: Fig 1 A mobile phone or communications device (1) may be concealed in a pocket, attached to a garment, worn on a strap or chain or may be attached to the body. The device will typically contain battery, radio transmitter/receiver (2), an aerial (3), keypad, display screen, microprocessor, memory card and SIM card.
Additionally it may contain a digital camera, MP3 device, and other accessories.
A headset (4), is designed to be attached to the head in a suitable position, for example to an earlobe, by means of a stud (5) through a body piercing. The headset will typically contain a source of power such as a battery (6), a radio transmitter/ receiver (4), microphone (7) an earphone (8) and an aerial (9). The headset may be of attractive design and may incorporate decorative elements or precious stones to permit it to have a secondary decorative function. A base station (10) incorporating a battery charger for the mobile communications device and headsets may also be provided. Fig 2
A headset as described in fig 1 in which separate devices are provided for the earphone (8) and the microphone (7), each attached by means of studs (5), and each containing radio transmitters/receivers (4) and aerial (9) for intercommunication with the mobile communications device.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims: 1 a headset for use with mobile phones, personal music players or
    other mobile communications devices designed to be attached to the user's body by means of a stud into a body piercing 2 a headset as described in claim no.1 where the headset is designed to be attached to the user's ear lobe.
    3 a headset as described in claim no.1 or claim no.2 where transmission and reception is by means of radio technology 4 a headset as described in claim no.1 or claim no.2 where transmission and reception is by means of Bluetooth technology a headset as described in claims 1 to 4 incorporating battery, transmitter, receiver, aerial, microphone and speaker in one unit designed to be attached to the user's body 6 a headset as described in claim no.5 in which the transmission means and receiver means are housed in separate units each independently attached to the user's body 7 a headset as described in claims 1 to 6 which incorporates decorative elements, precious metals or precious stones
