Abstract
A push fit window insert panel for fitting within an existing window surround parallel to an existing window panel comprises a frame 1 and a removable glass panel 2. The glass panel 2 is capable of being removed and replaced with a different panel 2. The panel may be coloured or decorative. The insert panel may grip an existing window surround by means of rubber blocks 3 fitted in recesses 5 in the frame 1 and biased outwardly by springs 4.
Description
WINDOW PANELS
The invention relates to glass panels mountable in windows.
Ordinary windows do not provide much scope for variation. Once they are in place they are difficult to change. The windows are fixed and the designs cannot easily be changed without expending a considerable amount of money and effort.
An object ofthis invention is to provide alternative glass panels, within a frame, which make it possible to change the effect from a window without the need to change the window or the glass.
Accordingly, this invention provides a glass panel within a frame, being removable.
The whole to fit inside a window aperture, on the inner side of existing window glazing, the invention to be held in place by a push^fit mechanism, and releasable, being interchangeable. Each glass panel is removeable from its finale, and is interchangeable.
Preferably, the panel is made Bom glass, with the fiend being made of wood, plastics materials or metal, or a combination ofthese materials.
A preferred embodiment ofthe invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1. Shows the inside of the frame Figure 2. Shows an end section of a side.
Figure 3. Shows a side of the frame and glass.
Figure 4. Is a front view ofthe whole.
As shown in Figure 1, by way of example, the window panel comprises a frame 1 with cutouts 5 which, for "ample, hold springs 4 and, by way of example, rubber inserts 3 as a push-fit mechanism or by similar means (not shown). Figure 1 shows the inside ofthe frame. The frame comprises a front and a back, between which is sandwiched the decorative stained glass/coloured glass panel 2. The front and the back ofthe frame are held together by sunken screws, for example, or by posts or by similar means (not shown).
The whole is pushfitted into place in the window aperture of an inside wall, in front of the inner side ofthe already existing window glazing in place.
Figure 2 shows an end view section of a complete panel, with glass pane 2 fLxed in place between both back and front sections of frame 1 and end views of rubber block inserts 3.
The rubber block inserts 3 can be pushed back against the springs 4 by using for example, a plastic spatula, or other similar means (not shown) to enable the complete window panel to be pushfitted into place in the window aperture. When the spatula is removed, the springs 4 are released pushing the rubber blocks 3 out against the walls of the window aperture, ensuring a tight fit.
To remove the complete window panel, the spatula can be used in the same way again.
The removable decorative glass panes 2 in the centre are replaceable and interchangeable; the frame 1 capable of being dismantled to enable such. Also the springs 4 and rubber blocks 3 are replaceable.
Figure 3 shows how the glass plate 2 would be sandwiched between the Font and back ofthe frame 1.
Figure 4 is a front view ofthe complete window panel, showing rubber blocks 3 extended. Handles can be provided, which can be removeable or can remain fitted, which enable the user to lift the window panel out ofthe aperture. They could, for example, be screwed into the flame by the user, or slotted into the frame along grooves, or into specially shaped slots or by similar mew (not shown).
Claims (8)
1. A coloured glass panel within a frame, being removable from the frame.
