Abstract

Fishing-ussels.-To enable whales to be drawn up on to the deck, an inclined slideway 1 is provided at the stern of the vessel extending from the deck to the load line. Winches 4 perform the necessary hauling, a secondary derrick 2 being employed to lift the tail. Derricks 7 arranged in pairs are employed to cant the body and the blubber boilers are conveniently placed on the flensing deck. Trimming tanks 5 are arranged aft to lower the stem if necessary. A roller 11 is provided at the top of the slidewav 1 which is also provided with a sliding gateway working in guides.
