Abstract

A watertight container comprises a bag which may be sealed yet can be compressed, without affecting the container's ability to protect its contents. No mechanical valves are used to evacuate air from the container. The container may have a main panel 2 and a base panel 3 made of a waterproof gas-permeable fabric, and may have a roll top flap 1 and a buckle 4 to securely close the flap.

Description

A waterproof and compressible container for placing sewn textiles and
other equipment The invention relates to a flexible bag or container made of fabric or some flexible material. This bag is used for placing clothes and/or other compressible items such as sleeping bags, tents and other travel and/or outdoor equipment in. These bags can be compressed to fit inside other containers such as rucksacks or suitcases or carried in isolation. These containers are also waterproof to protect them from weather and other hazards.
Waterproof containers for carrying textiles and/or equipment are common and widely used for carrying such items as camera equipment, clothes, and camping and travel equipment along with a whole host of products. All these containers suffer from the same problems such as the fact they are watertight often means they are airtight. This makes them impossible to compress or pack into small spaces due to the trapped air. Also this sealed type of bag often suffers from condensation thus damaging the contents. Currently some bags use mechanical valves to solve the problem of trapped air but as it does not allow a free movement of air through the bag it still suffers condensation.
An object of this invention is to provide a waterproof bag or container for carrying equipment and textiles of various types, which allows the free movement of gas or air through the bag, thus eliminating condensation and making it possible to compress the contents if needed.
Accordingly, this invention provides a waterproof container or bag with either sections or entirely made from a waterproof material, which allows gases and/or air to freely pass through the fabric, and has means of closing the container or bag to make it waterproof.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE I shows the base and front view of the bag.
FIGURE 2 shows a side view of the bag.
As shown in Figure 1, the container comprises a base panel 3 made of a waterproof and gas permeable fabric, which lets gas and air pass through it. The container also comprises of a main panel 2, which can or can not be made of the same material as the base panel 3.
Textile products or equipment may be placed in the bag which is created by these two pane s.
As shown in Figure 2, the container also comprises a roll top flap 1 and a means of securely closing the container to make it waterproof in this case a buckle 4. Once items have been placed in the bag and a watertight seal be created the bag may still be compresses to fit into small spaces and also condensation can still escape through the base panel 3.

Claims (1)

1. A container which can be sealed watertight yet can be compressed without affecting the containers ability to protect its contents from the external environment and where no mechanical valves are used.
