Abstract

A ladder platform includes u-shaped mounting means 3 and two uprights 2. A first embodiment describes a construction that includes two crossbars 1 each with adjacent mounting means. A second embodiment includes a pivotal single crossbar with adjacent mounting means and sidebars 4 which when under load are opposed to the uprights preventing rotation.

Description

HOOK-UP CROSSBAR
( This invention relates to a hook-up crossbar and is to be used in conjunction with a ladder.
A ladder is a set of crossbars between uprights, used as a means of climbing.
When working with a ladder it may be necessary to stand upon a single crossbar for a period of time. This is less comfortable than standing upon two adjacent crossbars that provide a broader platform.
According to the present invention there is provided a hook-up crossbar, to be used in conjunction with a adder, comprising either a single crossbar between uprights with crossbar-hooks secured midway along the upper edges and sidebars projecting lower I down. or dual crossbars between uprights with crossbar-hooks towards the upper and l lower ends.
The specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of reference to the l accompanying drawing which.- l Figure 1 shows in perspective, the single hook-up crossbar: Figure 2 shows in perspective, the dual hook-up crossbar.
Referring to the drawing the hook-up crossbar comprises either a single crossbar 1 between uprio, hts 2 with crossoar-hooks 3 secured nnidwav alone the under ed.o,es and sidebars projecting lower down 4 as shown in Figure 1, or dual crossbars 1 between uprights 2 with crossbar hooks 3 secured towards the upper and lower ends as shown in Figure 2.
In order to secure the hook-up crossbar to a ladder, from underneath, the crossbar-hooks are placed over the crossbar, or crossbars. of the ladder and slid downwards into Place.
To remove the hook-up crossbar from the ladder it is slid upwards and lifted away.

- CLAIMS
1 A hook-up crossbar, to be used in conjunction with a ladder, comprising either a single crossbar! between uprights with crossbar-hooks secured midway along the upper edges and sidebars projecting lower down, or dual crossbars between uprights with crossbar hooks towards the upper and lower ends.
2 A hook-up crossbar as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the crossbar-hooks and the
sidebands, where in existence. are specificaiiv located to ensure that, when in use on a ladder at a safe angle, the corresponding crossbars are parallel and provide a secure platform to stand upon.
3 A hook-up crossbar as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein corresponding crossbars are separated DY a suitable clan to provide a comfortable platform to stand upon.
4 A hook-up crossbar as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3, wherein the uprights are ideally spaced to fit snuaiY within the uprights of the ladder, permitting the single crossbar or dual crossbars to be of a similar but slightly shorter length to those of the ladder. 5 A hook-up crossbar as claimed in any previous Claims, wherein the portion of the uprights extending above the crossbar hooks where acting as a pivot, as with the single hook-up crossbar, provide sufficient rotational force to more than counter that of the portion of the uprights extending below and ensure that the sidebars fit firmly against the uprights of the ladder.
5 A hook-up crossbar substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 and of the accomDanvinu drawing.
