Abstract

239,158. Schindler et Cie. Aug. 29, 1924, [Convention date]. Systems for alternating-current motors only.- For use in hoisting, two alternating-current motors M<1>, M<2> coupled to a single shaft 13 are provided with control arrangements whereby one motor alone can take up the drive or the two can run in cascade or parallel as required, one motor always remaining connected to the main. For cascade running the stator 3 of the motor M<1> is connected to the mains, the two rotors 7 and 9 are connected together and in parallel with a resistance 15, and the stator S of the motor M<2> is connected to a resistance 14. If the stator 8 is connected to the mains through a switch 16. and if resistance 17 is also inserted in series with the rotor 4, the drive is virtually taken up by the motor M<2> alone. If the resistance 17 is inserted in the rotor 9 and taken out of the rotor 4, the drive is virtually taken up by the motor M<1>. An electromagnetic brake controlled by a centrifugal switch may be added to the arrangement.
