Abstract

A motorcycle visor is provided with an ultrasonic vibrator to disperse water droplets thereon. Preferably this is achieved by means of an ultrasonic piezoelectric transducer 1 attached to the visor 2 and powered either by the motorcycles own electrical supply or from a separate battery.

Ultrasonic Clearing of Crash -helmet visors.
The invention concerns the removal of raindrops and/or condensation from the visor of a crash-helmet. Desirably the visor is caused to vibrate at a frequency above the audible range by the use of an electrically powered transducer. Preferably the transducer is coupled solidly to the visor. Power may be supplied either from the electrical system of the motorcycle or by a battery mounted on the helmet or the visor. An obvious extension of the principle would be to apply it to the windscreens of cars etc. Construction of the invention is illustrated by way of example only in figure 1.
Referring to figure 1, desirably transducer 1 is provided with a threaded extension whereby the transducer may be secured to visor 2 using nut 3. Preferably transducer 1 is also provided with polarised connector 4 to receive power from an external source.

Claims (3)

Claims:
1 A motorcycle helmet visor incorporating means of dislodging water droplets or other foreign particles by vibrating the visor at a frequency above the audible range.
2 A visor as described in claim 1 wherein the vibrating means is excited by the application of electrical power.
3 A visor as described in claims 1 and 2 wherein the vibrating means comprises a piezo-
electric transducer.
