Abstract

A stabiliser for a paper roll comprises a bar, inserted into the core of a paper roll or the like when the roll is mounted in a holder such that the bar prevents inadvertent unwinding (overrun). The bar may be provided with finials to retain the bar in position, the finials being articulated so as to allow the bar to be moved into position.

Description

Paper Roll-Stabilisins bar This invention relates to a stabilising bar to be entered into the centre of a paper toilet roll when mounted in a roll holder Toilet rolls, when mounted in a roll holder depend on friction between the bar of the roll holder and the centre former of roll itself to prevent the forces on the unrolled, hanging, section of the roll from destabilising the roll, allowing it to unroll and deposit its contents on the floor. As this friction force will vary in relation to the weight of the roll and as the roll becomes lighter as it is used there tends to be a point where forces on the hanging section, its weight and movement in the air around it will overcome the

friction force.

The'stabilising bar'when entered into the centre of the roll, lying on the roll former, increases the initial friction force (due to its weight) and adds a second braking force between the roll former and the stabilising bar. This, second, force is constant irrespective to the weight of the roll the bar being arranged to prevent it from rotating or slipping from the roll.

As the ends of the stabilising bar will emerge from the side of the roll it will be possible to add decorative motifs to them in the arrangement for prevention of rotation of the bar.

Paper Roll-Stabilising bar CLAIMS 1) A STABILISING BAR TO BE ENTERED INTO A TOILET ROLL, TO PREVENT INADVERTANT UNROLLING, WHEN MOUNTED IN A ROLL HOLDER.
2) A STABILISING BAR (AS CLAIM 1) WITH FINIALS SECURED TO PREVENT IT ROTATING WHEN IN WORKING POSITION.
3) A STABILISING BAR (AS CLAIM 1) WITH FINIALS WHICH MAY BE SECURED TO ALLOW ARTICULATION FOR IT TO PASS THROUGH SMALL GAPS TO ITS WORKING POSITION.
4) A STABILISING BAR (AS CLAIM 1) WITH FINIALS WHERE VARIOUS DECORATIVE MOTIFS MAY BE APPLIED.
5) A STABILISING BAR (AS CLAIM 1) SHOWN IN FIGURES 1-IA & IB ON ATTACHED PLAN.
