Abstract

A rest for a fishing rod has a means A for supporting the butt of the rod attached to a ground engaging structure B by an elongate rod-like member. The supporting means which, in use, comprises two cradles, one upwardly facing and one downwardly facing, connected to each other by a rod-like member. This connecting member attaches at right angles to the substantially vertical member which connects the supporting members to the ground engaging members. To support the fishing rod, the end of the butt (or handle) which is furthest away from the rest of the rod is placed under the downward facing cradle, with the remaining part of the butt resting on the upwardly facing cradle. The ground engaging member B has two spikes attached to the vertical elongate member via a chevron-shaped spade-like device.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Butt only Rod Rest.
This invention relates to a rest for fishing rods.
Rod rests are well known pieces of equipment that support fishing rods without the necessity of the angler continually holding the fishing rod. They rest on the ground or are driven into the ground and provide support for the fishing rod at the front of the fishing rod and the back of the fishing rod. The back of the fishing rod is known as the butt of the fishing rod.
Rod rests are, however, relatively expensive and bulky to carry around.
Conventionally are awkward to use and require a good amount of effort to secure them into the ground. Conventional rod rests are not universal in such a way that any fishing rod can use any rod rest this fact multiplies the number of rod rests that an angler needs to carry The present invention is universal in that it supports the fishing rod in such a way that any fishing rod can be used. Fig 1/A The present invention is of a uniform solid welded construction.
To support a fishing rod the butt only rod rest does not require any further accessories or fixings.
It is of a solid welded construction and of suitable construction to make it robust and portable for varied locations as are encountered whilst fishing.
The present invention has a combination of twin spike and chevron construction for entry into hard or soft ground. Fig 1/B
