Abstract

Tea, cutting.-Cellular rolls for tea-cutting machines are formed of a number of steel discs a, each with teeth milled at its periphery, the tips of the teeth being subsequently hardened for example by case hardening or heat treatment, the discs being separated by plates or washers c, preferably of hardened steel. The discs a and plates c may be clamped on a shaft b by screwnut e between collars d which may carry a retaining pin or pins f inserted through the discs and plates to ensure the relative staggering of the roll cells. The milling of the teeth may be effected by clamping a number of discs on a support and operating on the group with a cutter. Cellular rolls built up of cast iron toothed discs having a shroud at one side are also referred to.
