Abstract
238,186. RÚmondy, L. E. Aug. 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Addition to 172,326. Projectile fuzes.-The sensitive combined direct and momentum action fuze described in the parent Specification is made of light stampings. In Fig. 1 a front stamping C formed with a firing-pin c is clinched over a rear stamping B containing the percussion cap D, and this assemblage is inserted in the mouth of the fuze body A over a ring of plastic material E, and is secured in place by the bent-over lip a on the fuze body. In modifications (1) a spring is interposed between the firing-pin and the percussion cap; (2) a washer is placed over the percussion cap and has ears projecting through slots in the surrounding part B; (3) the stampings 13, C are made in one piece; and (4) the function of the plastic ring E is performed by ears projecting from the stamping C and secured in notches in the fuze body A. In Fig. 6, the firing-pin c is bent out of the front part C on impact, the front part being in this case a disc covered by a plug of cork H.
