Abstract

A motorised trike for a disabled user comprises a hydraulically actuated lift which acts as a wheelchair access ramp. Hydraulic stabilisers may provide additional support when the lift is in use. The lift may be operated remotely and preferably folds upwards when not in use. The trike preferably comprises a converted motorbike and a chassis constructed from aluminium box-section. The user sits in the wheelchair in a cockpit area where handlebars are reachable. A console may swing downwards to clamp the wheelchair. Gears may be operated by push button and if a powered wheelchair is used, it may be charged by an alternator when the wheelchair is locked in position. The rear wheels of the trike are mounted on swing arms with brake drums and sprockets on the inner side to facilitate wheel changing.

  1. CLAIMS Drawing 1 This is an aerial view of the PDP Conquest. It shows single swinging arm attachments This allows for easy change of the wheel with the brake drums and sprockets on the inside.
    This is a vast improvement of last years model Drawing 2 This shows the side view showing the ramp height (approx 6") This allows easy access into and out of the vehicle Drawing 3 This shows the side view One single nut is used to secure the wheel to the swinging arm unit allowing the ease of wheel change Drawing 4 This shows the chassis constructed from boxed aluminium Drawing 5 This shows the proto-type bodywork that I am working on with handlebars sitting in the cockpit area and drive shaft ready to attach to the donor bike

    Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1.
    The Unit is designed to allow a person in a wheelchair To use the wheelchair as a seat within the frame work To control the vehicle, There is a console that rises and Zends locking the wheels of the wheelchair in place For a safe ride, this works in conjunction with the rear Ramp, again locking the wheels of the wheelchair giving Added safety to the driver. My daim is the usage of a wheel Chair within the framework that is either welded or bolted To the rear end of a motorbike as a seat. That allows a
    Disabled driver within the wheelchair to control and Ride the Vehicle.

    The unite has Two rear wheels each one sits in a single SWinging. Arm this allows me to have the brakes and drive On the inside and a single large nut holds the wheel in Place, Giving ease of wheel change.
