Abstract

The train has wheels which run on four parallel rails, e.g. all rails of an original double track, and can comprise two trains joined side-by-side or be provided by a dedicated large width design. The train can have bullet proof glass, armour plating in the cab roof, a leading end steel plough and a blower for dispersing leaves and/or ice.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
SPECIFICATION :-title = QUADRAIL SUPERTRAIN Essentially the Four Rail/Line Locomotive + Train rides upon a four line track, using as many standard parts from existing rollingstock as possible.
Reason for this invention ; This kind of train is completely new and safer than a conventional train, also it is more useful.
Description; Basically it is like joining two trains together at the hip and knocking them through into one big one. A steel Plough is added to the front and a large armour plate is fitted inside the roof protecting two drivers. Both re-enforced and bullet proof glass will protect the crew, around the footplate/cab. Four Electric Blowers will clear the tracks of any remaining debris. All of these fittings are permanent.
A Dedicated One Way Circle Rout is IMPERATIVE to the running of this train as no other train, or object could restrain the Supertrain, if the breaks or lights failed.
Some of the existing track could be used if level.
The best embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the artists impression.
Technical Description :For the first Prototype; two existing locomotives are joined together using steel box brackets and R. S. J. girder's whilst they are standing upon two conventional standard gauge tracks, totalling four rails.
In order to go round a comer, the pivots are mounted in slots for all the bogies which are all sprung to the centre, some lack of precision would be an advantage here.
If this is not possible, then the intermediate brackets could be exchanged for dampers. the relevant R. S. J. s could also be exchanged for plunger's and dampers, to test the theory.
Ideally, a Quadrail Supertrain locomotive could be built from scratch ; using the Diagrams provided.
The Carriages could also be developed as above; resulting in a brand new Carriage, befitting the new Supertrain.
The Drawings/Diagrams are not exactly to scale, but they are as near to scale as possible with the software provided.
Some of the Diagrams are already overloaded with essential parts; so some well known standard parts, are not shown.
The Front Bogie supports the Steel Plough, along with its R. S. J. s into the Locomotive ; most of this will be of local manufacture.

Claims (8)

  1. CLAIMS Quad Rail Locomotive and Tram :- 1. Essentially the Four Rail Locomotive and Train rides upon a four line track. using as many standard rollingstock parts and double track layouts as possible.
  2. 2. As claimed in claim 1. wherein, it is harder to de-rail, having more wheels on more tracks than normal trains.
Only three or more rails broken simultaneously could de-rail this Tram.
  3. 3. As claimed in claim 1. and claim 2. wherein this train, stays upright because it covers the entire width of causeway, i. e. both the up and the down line. The width exceeds the height W= h+w or W= w x 2. H= h.
  4. 4. As claimed in claim 1. plus claim 2. plus claim 3. wherein it will NEVER meet another train head on, as a Dedicated one way system only is used. Nor will it go through the buffers because it will operate on a circle line only, dedicated to the Quad-rail Supertrain.
  5. 5. As claimed in claim 1. plus claim 2. plus claim 3. plus claim 4. wherein it will always carry a wider and heavier load than conventional trains.
  6. 6. As claimed in claim 1. plus claim 2. plus claim 3. plus claim 4. plus claim 5. wherein, it will be able to clear the track better than a conventional train ; keeping better time. Having a permanent steel plough at the head + a leaf/ice blower.
  7. 7. As in claim 1. plus claim 2. plus claim 3. plus claim 4. plus claim 5. plus claim 6. wherein, this train will go round comers and bends, due to some alterations to chassis during design/re-design.
  8. 8. Basically; it is like joining two trains together at the hip and the tracks together at the base. That is what all of the diagrams are about, except the Carriage's are shown, finished, as one wide one, as though it was knocked through into one, larger. Or as though it was built wide from scratch, brand new. The"joined"locomotives cab's are also, as if knocked through into one.
