Breech actions, drop-down barrel.-The breechbody of an under-and-over gun is formed at the sides with upstanding lugs f adapted to fit into open-bottomed recesses e in the sides of the barrel unit, the lugs and recesses forming interlocking abutments which assist in maintaining a gastight joint and taking the firing stresses off the hinge The hinge is formed by studs i, Figs. 5 and 7, projecting inwards from the sides of the actionbody and engaging open-sided bearings j, Fig. 4, in lugs j<1> on the sides of the barrel unit. The lugs j<1> extend above the bearing and form stops co-operating with shoulders k<2> on the body knuckles to limit the drop-down movement of the barrels.
