Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
A foldable pushchair for babies Some models of foldable pushchairs for babies have been already known for years which comprise only three wheels, i. e. two back ones and a central front one.
The pushchairs of this type have some drawbacks such as their excessive bulk once folded, the fact that it turns out to be difficult for the person carrying the pushchair to carry out the folding operation, and the fact that once folded these pushchairs are not apt to maintain a standing position and are thus more difficult to handle and to be put away.
All these problems and some others have been solved by the pushchair being the object of this invention and comprising a chassis being formed by pin-jointed members allowing to accordion fold it by bringing its front and back portions near to each other whereby said members are then arranged in a mutually juxtaposed arrangement, said folding being completed by forwardly folding the pinjointed handhold of the handlebar. The locking device locking the pushchair in its unfolded arrangement can be easily unlocked by means of a control being provided at the top of each branch of the handlebar thus substantially facilitating said task for the person being about to fold the pushchair.
Other advantages of this new pushchair lie for example in the fact of its being provided with means allowing to fit holders being provided to hold convertible carrycot-seats, and in the provision of an upholstery being apt to be removably fitted to the chassis of the pushchair and having its backrest provided with simple means allowing to fix it in differently inclined positions.
The chassis of this pushchair does essentially comprise two side members being provided by way of
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
armrests and being at their front end linked in a pinjointed connection to respective legs inferiorly converging where the front wheel is fitted, each of said side members at an intermediary point being linked in a pin-jointed connection to a respective back leg being associated to the corresponding back wheel, each of said side members at their back end being linked in a pinjointed connection to an intermediary point of each of the branches of the handlebar, these latter being at their lower end linked in a pin-jointed connection to a U-shaped transverse member being laterally linked in a pin-jointed connection to the U-shaped frame for the seat and to the back legs, the U-shaped frame being at its front ends linked in a pin-jointed connection to the front legs.
The handlebar is formed by a U-shaped handhold being linked in a pin-jointed connection being as well provided with a locking device to the aforementioned handlebar branches, each of these latter upperly comprising a control being provided to unlock the fitting of the lower end of said branches inside respective receiver devices being provided at an intermediary point of the back legs.
The side members being provided by way of armrests have been provided at their front region with a cuff being secured to them and being apt to receive a front handrail being provided to be removably fitted to it, said side members being provided by way of armrests at their intermediary region comprising the means being provided with a respective back control and being apt to removably retain the holders being provided to hold convertible carrycot-seats.
These and other characteristics will be best made apparent by the following detailed description whose understanding will be made easier by the accompanying two sheets of drawings showing a practical embodiment cited
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
only by way of example not limiting the scope of the present invention.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows in a perspective view the chassis of this pushchair ; Fig. 2 shows in a sectional elevation the set of pin-jointed members allowing to fold the pushchair; Fig. 3 represents in a perspective view the complete pushchair; and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the pushchair as seen from the back.
According to the drawings the pushchair for babies comprises two back wheels 1 and 2 and one front wheel 3 being all of them provided with tyres 4, and the chassis is laterally formed by respective side members 5 and 6 being provided by way of armrests and being at their front end linked in a pin-jointed connection by means of pins 7 (Fig. 2) to respective legs 8 and 9 inferiorly converging where the front wheel 3 is fitted.
Said side members being provided by way of armrests are at an intermediary point linked in a pin-jointed connection by means of a pin 10 to respective back legs 11 and 12 being associated to the corresponding back wheels 1 and 2 by means of respective adjustable suspension and brake units 13 and 14.
Said side members being provided by way of armrests are at their back end linked in a pin-jointed connection by means of a pin 15 to an intermediary point of the branches 16 and 17 of the handlebar 18, said branches being at their lower end linked in a pin-jointed connection by means of pins 19 to a U-shaped transverse member 20 being laterally linked in a pin-jointed connection by means of pins 21 to the U-shaped frame 22 for the seat and by means of pins 23 to the back legs.
The front ends of said frame for the seat are linked in a
