Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
SOCK APPLICATOR DEVICE Due to a number of factors, it may be difficult for some people to put socks on, so there is therefore the need for a device that can make this task easier.
The device comprises one or more components for holding the sock open, optionally with a means of clipping or other means of releasable holding the sock in position, and a column or extension connected to a handle or other means of holding the device, optionally with a means of releasing the clips or other way that the sock is held. This allows the sock to be brought to the foot and worn without the operator having to bend over.
The device may be designed to be either one or two handed, or may be provided as a unit that does not need to be held (e. g. floor-mounted). It may be possible to move the components as required.
The device may be provided with one or more rests or other means of support for added stability and support.
The component that holds the sock keeps it open so that the foot may be slid inside, and the sock may be releasably secured to the device with one or more clips or other means of securing. A means for releasing the clamps or other means of securing may be attached to the handle or other means of holding the device. This means that the sock may be released once it is in position/has been placed.
The device may be provided with one or more rests or other means of support for added stability. It may also be provided with a power source in order to improve ease of use (e. g. batteries).
The device may be lightweight to assist in handling, and composed of a number of materials, for example metals, plastics, etc.
An embodiment of the device will now be described by way of example in which :- Figure 1 shows an example of the device.
The device comprises column C linking the handle H with D which houses the opening and closing jaws J that hold open the sock with releasable clips X that grip so that the device holds the sock securely until required not to do so (i. e. once the sock is
on the foot). The button B is used to release the clips X. Lever L fs ed 6-o opera.beJc\ Tcnec ScLiru The device may also be provided and/or adapted for use with other types of footwear (e. g. shoes) or other types of clothing.
