Abstract

Thermionic amplifiers.-Relates to amplifying sets of the type in which chokes are inserted in the grid and plate circuits of each valve, and in which the loud speaker is arranged at earth potential so that the direct-current component of the high-tension supply does not pass through its windings. As shown in Fig. 1, the plates of the low-frequency valves 3, 8 are connected through chokes 9, 11 to the high-tension battery 5 the coils 2 and 7 acting as grid chokes. The loud speaker 13 is connected to the negative side of the plate battery, the low-frequency currentspassing via the condenser 12. Grid biasing cells 4, 6 are included in series with the transformer secondary 2 and choke coil 7 respectively. As shown in Fig. 2, transformer couplings 16, 17 preceding the valves 25, 26 are alternated with choke couplings 18, 31, 21 and 19, 32, 22 preceding the valves 23, 24. In another arrangement this sequence of couplings is reversed.
