Abstract

A pipe connector means (20) comprises an annular sleeve (22) made of a deformable plastics material or metal, the sleeve (22) being equipped with a stopper part (23) at one end and units inside with a gripper portion (24), such that when pushed or screwed into the connection part (34) of a pipe fitting (30) or valve the sleeve (22) is deformed inwards such that the gripper portion (24) holds a pipe (32) to be connected thereto thus creating a fluid tight seal. To improve the seal, an O-ring (37) may be provided inside the connector means (20), and the outer surface of the sleeve (22) may be coated with semi-hardening sealant. Longitudinal slots (38) provided in the sleeve (22) assist in the inward deformation.
