Abstract
An internet radio (180) for portable applications and uses such as in an automobile (184) enables providing navigational services (202) to be provided to a wireless communication device, and comprises the steps of remotely configuring a format for providing content on said wireless communication device; and providing, from the available content in the configured format, selected content from the downloaded content. Customized information is also communicated to the radio such as stock quotes, travel information, advertising (196), and e-mail (204). Onboard global positioning allows for channel updating by location, traffic information, geographic advertising and available similar content.
