Abstract

An intruder alarm system for use in an articulated trailer comprises two or more battery-powered passive infra-red (PIR) sensors with 180{ or 360{ fields of view. The sensors may be fitted with anti-tamper devices and disguised to resemble trailer lights. A driver may be notified of the presence of an intruder by a light and buzzer in the cab, so that the intruders are unaware of the alarm. The batteries may be charged by a solar energy panel. The system may be armed by a device with anti-scrambling capability mounted on a key fob.

Description

1 2363194 Articulated Trailer Intruder Alarm System Alarm systems are in
everyday use for cars and homes. This system is more akin to home systems which use passive infrared beams, hereafter referred to as P.I.R.. This alarm is designed for articulated units that are used to carry loads and large box vans or carriers. Illegal immigrants smuggle themselves undetected in the back, so this is designed to let drivers know that there is someone aboard who should not be there. Forewarning of any danger to himself. Also it protects the load against theft. This system is fully portable and can be carried from unit to unit, and be set, at leisure, by the driver on the load he is receiving. Only arming when satisfied it is clear.
ARTICULATED TRAILER ALARM SYSTEM 1. Intruder alarm for large vehicles operated by PIR Remote Warning Device 180' or 360'.
2. Alarm system powered by independent battery (not vehicle power) 3. Armed by key fob (fitted with anti-scramble device).
4. P.l.R. Units incorporating anti-tamper operated by radio waves.
5. Alarm system batteries charged by own solar energy panel affixed to remote box.
6. P.I.R.s look like inside trailer lights.
7. Red light and buzzer indicates intruders to driver in cab or when main box is within 5 foot of trailer.
8. Can only be reset by person using arming fob.
9. Whole system small, compact, carried by driver from unit to unit, set at leisure on load once satisfied it is clear.
10. No limit to amount of P.I.R.s that can be used to protect from 1 to 10 11. Enclosed drawing shows 3 P.1.R.s on canvassided trailer as example.

Claims (1)
