Abstract

An interactive system allowing users to browse, select and purchase license(s) to hear their choice of audio selection(s) from a list held at a suitable location (e.g. an internet web site, radio station or broadcasting station). Once chosen, audio selection(s) are transmitted using a suitable cater (e.g. internet connection, FM or digital radio signal), received and played back using a suitable device (e.g. radio, television, personal computer, mobile phone, handheld device, etc.). The list of available audio selections is made available via a suitable medium (e.g. the internet, digital television, etc.). The list may be browsed, selections made and licence(s) purchased for playback of the audio selection. Playback of the audio selection(s) may be requested at a specified time or at a time triggered by input or signal from a suitable device.

MyRadio Product Description
OveMew MyRadio is a complete interactive system which allows users to browse, select and purchase a license to hear their own choice of selected music from a back catalogue held at a radio or broadcasting station. This music selection is then played back via an FM or digital radio signal and can be received and listened to on any device capable of receiving a radio signal (e.g. Home or In-Car stereo, TV, PC, Mobile Phone, Hand-held computer etc.).
The music catalogue is made available by the publishing corripany/radio station through a database which is published or made available to the public via a medium such as the internet/world wide web/digital TY A user accesses the database, browses the available catalogue and purchases licence(s) to hear that music played back to them via the traditional broadcasting system (Medium Wave, FM or Digital Radio) at a userspecified time, or at a time "triggered" by the user by relaying a code or signal.
Benefits Creates personalised radio stations/channels for users. Allows music licenses to be sold in small packages or "bursts". Reclaims the music from the pirates (discourages piracy) and regains control of music license distribution. Advance payment for music rights can be obtained via creffit/debit card, loyalty card etc. (perhaps even paving the way for new kinds of artist contracts?). Users can pre-select their mu ic: for different moods and have these "genres" recorded in the database as "sessions" for future use (e.g. uplifting, calming, etc.). Traditional features such as "randomise" & "shuffle" may also be pre-selected or requested. Software at both client & server ends tracks & records tastes & transactions for future reference by the user.
7- User preference lists could be used to form basis of new marketing channels.
Can be used to enhance parties, car journeys, air flights, hospital visits, etc.
Method 1 User logs into database (e.g. via internet web browser) using a unique password/ID which must be obtained by pre-registering (e.g. using a credit card) with the music vendor (label, publisher, radio station, artist, etc)- This is an opportunity to build a database of potential future buyers. User browses catalogue, selects tracks or sequences of music, then purchases a licence (e.g. via online Credit Card transaction) to have the tracks played back to them at a time decided upon by the user (either a pre-defined time or at a time triggered by the interaction of the user - by mobile phone, or by a signal sent by the radio recieves itself). Music is played back to the user via radio network (FX Digital channels, etc.) 4. Vendor database andlor user client software stores ummaction and preference choices so that a user may re-order the same, sar. or different selections of music at the touch of a button (or mouse click).
5. Standard features such as: Randomise, SIdp, Repeat are also available for added variety.
6. Users database can be amended or deleted at any time by the user (the user only holds a temporary "play-once" licence).
