Abstract
A muzzle device for grazing animals that consists of an interlocking, lattice mesh arrangement 2 which can be applied to the animal via integral straps 3 or by means of permanent or releasable attachment to a collar device 1 such as a head-collar. The distance between the start of the lattice mesh arrangement and the securing point P is variable to cater for different sized animals.

ANIMAL GRAZE-RESTRICTING MUZZLE DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to an animal graze-restricting muzzle.
Animals that feed by grazing on grass or pasture can become overweight or ill through eating too much c:, 4 grass, especially when it is rich in nutrients. It is therefore often necessary to restrict the intake of food. A muzzle device can be used to limit the amount of food an animal can take when grazing.
According to the present invention there is provided an animal graze- re stric tin a muzzle comprising an interlocking mesh arrangement made from natural or man-made materials. This can be attached to the animal by way of an integrated strap or by attaching it to a suitable head-collar or halter device. The muzzle covers the mouth area of the animal.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows in perspective, the muzzle attached to a head-collar device.
Referring to the drawing the muzzle comprises an interlocking, lattice mesh 2 attached to a head-collar device 1 by means of, for example, permanent stitching, popper studs, self-adhesive fastenings or similar means (not shown).
The length e of the upper part of the muzzle can be adjusted to suit the individual animal according to the type of fastening used.
Claims (2)
1. An animal araze-restricting muzzle comprising an interlockinO, lattice mesh arrangement of 1 t, 1 material to cover the animal's mouth area.
An animal graze-restricting muzzle as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the muzzle can be applied to the animal via integral, extended straps or via permanent or releasable attachment to a collar device.
3. An animal graze-restricting muzzle as claimed in Claiml or Claim 2 wherein, the material of cl manufacture is either man-made or natural fibre.
4. An animal graze-restricting muzzle as claimed in any preceding claim wherein, the size and shape of the mesh arrangement is variable.
5. An animal graze-restricting muzzle as claimed in any preceding claim wherein, the length of the mesh arrangement is adjustable.
An animal graze-restricting muzzle substantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing.
