Abstract
A plastic carrier bag has a series of indentations 3 or penetrations (Figure 4) to facilitate easy opening of the carrier bag. By pushing gently sideways on the area where the indentations or penetrations are located the bag will open straight away every time and any conditions. The indentations or perforations are in one or both walls of the bag adjacent to its mouth. They may form lettering such as an opening instruction.
Description
2358387 EASY TO OPEN PLASTIC CARRIER BAG This invention relates to an easy
to open normal plastic carrier bag the type given away with shopping at the supermarket checkouts. They are usually difficult to open especially when they have been stacked together for a long time.
According to the present invention the problem could be easily over-come by inserting a series of small indentations or penetrations at the opening side of the carrier bag on either side of the carrier bag or on both sides of the bag.. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure I shows carrier bag with indentations (in this case the indentations are forming an instruction 'PUSH SIDEWAYS TO OPEN' but they could be forming any letters as long as they are of certain density near the top opening side of the bag).
Figure 2 shows indentations or penetrations as they may appear on the bag.
Figure 3 shows indentations in profile Figure 4 shows penetrations in profile In order to open the carrier bag without the fingers slipping on the surface of the bag, the small indentations on either side of the bag or on both sides of the bag will increase the sideways pressure applied to open the bag and make it extremely easy to open.
