Abstract
235,817. Ustonson, C. B. March 19, 1925. Spectacle lenses.- Spectacle lenses having three different focal section are constructed with the reading section formed by a fused insertion of glass of a different character to the remainder of the lens and entirely surrounded by the intermediate section. In manufacture two lenses are made from a circular disc a of spectacle glass by grinding recesses b near the centre and inserting pieces of flint glass c as shown. The outer surface is then worked, producing a reading lens at the fused parts c, and an intermediate lens d, the remainder of the lens forming a distance lens. The disc a is then divided between the lenses c and edged.
