Abstract
A Dog Harness, Figure 1 includes a breast plate "A", which incorporates a cushioned control panel "B". This may be connected by adjustable straps "C" and "D" to a lead attachment facility "G" over the animal's centre of gravity.
Description
2355909 Dog Harness.
This invention relates to a harness to be worn by dogs. It 'incorporates a cushioned control panel which acts on a pressure point on the animal, resulting in an immediate response to the handler's request to slow forward movement, whilst walking on the lead. As a consequence, a kinder method of control is achieved.
Dog Harnesses are available on the market but the control features act on areas which avoid this specific pressure point. Therefore, control is only achievable by the strength and force exerted by the handler in pulling the leg straps back to stop any forward movement.
An object of this "invention is to provide a method of control, via a harness, which is kind, both physically and psychologically, to dog and handler, as a direct result of its effectiveness and ease of use.
To provide this sympathetic control it is necessary to have pliable, adjustable durable straps connecting the control panel 'incorporated within a breast plate, which join over a specific point to which the lead attaches. Preferably, the control panel should be made of a material with cushioning properties and be of a certain thickness.
Figure I shows front and side view of harness being worn by a dog. Letter A indicates the breast plate, B indicates the control panel within the breast plate, C is the adjustable strap running from the breast plate to G, the loop for the lead attachment over the animal's centre of gravity. At this point, D, the body strap running from the under belly, (continuation of the breastplate) also Jois.
This harness would be beneficial for both training of young dogs and for remedial training of older dogs alike.
Claims (4)
1, A harness to be wom by dogs incorporating a cushioned control panel which acts on a pressure point on the chest and results 'in the animal's immediate response to the handler's request to slow or interrupt forward movement by exerting the minimum amount of pressure via the lead attachment.
2. A harness as in claiml. where pliable, adjustable durable straps are connected to the control panel to run along the sides of the animal's body and underneath the belly for directional control purposes.
3. A harness as in claim I and 2 where a lead attachment is situated over the animal's centre of gravity at the point where the straps from chest and belly meet thus enabling the lead to be removed for "free" exercise.
4. A harness in any previous claim that is made from cushioned materials of a suitable durability and thickness for comfort and safety 'in the specific areas which come into contact with the animals body and in such a way that any release of pressure from the handler via the lead attachment may be felt by the animal immediately.
