Abstract

A composite confectionary item comprises a strong alcoholic liquid centre encased in a chewable sweet-like shell. The sweet-like shell is composed of two layers, a hard, brittle outer layer and a soft chewable inner layer and the liquid centre may be any alcoholic drink but preferably 40-55 % alcohol by volume. The inner layer of the shell may be flavoured or may comprise one or more stimulants, such as caffeine, and the outer layer of the shell may have a design printed on it. Preferred flavours for the inner shell are cola, orange, lemon, blackberry, strawberry, banana, raspberry, mint, chocolate, caramel or candy. Preferably, the outer and inner layers are 0.5 and 2.5 mm thick respectively and the liquid centre has a diameter of 26 mm.

Description

2355641 DRINK TYPE This invention relates to a new type of alcoholic drink
composed of a strong alcoholic liquid encased in a chewable sweet-like shell.
This invention brings a new variety and fun to drinking.
The sweet-like shell is composed of two layers, a hard outer shell and a soft chewable inner shell. It can be sucked or chewed to reveal the 4050% volume alcoholic center.
The outer shell may have various designs printed on it depending on the flavour and marketing of the drink.
The inner layer of the shell may contain one or more stimulants depending on the flavour and marketing of the drink.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE 1 shows the drinks packaged in the jars from which they will be sold.
FIGURE 2 shows a cross-section of one of the drinks.
The drinks may be of different sizes. In one example, as shown in FIGURE 2, the new drinks will measure approximately 32mm in diameter. The inner layer of the shell is approximately 2.5mm thick and the outer layer of the shell is approximately 0.5mm thick. Therefore the diameter of the alcoholic center is 26mm.
The outer layer of the shell is a hard, brittle layer and should stop the drinks from sticking together while in storage. The shells may have a variety of different designs printed on them.
The inner layer of the shell may contain a variety of stimulants such as caffeine and is available in a variety of flavours. For example cola, orange, lemon, blackberry, strawberry, banana, raspberry, blackberry, mint, chocolate, caramel, candy.
2.
The alcoholic center may be any drink depending on the flavouring and marketing. For example, it could be anything from a liquor to a spirit of 55% volume.
The drinks may be sold individually from large jars in bars or from a variety of different sized jars in off-licenses.
