Abstract

A fishing line meter comprises a spool 1 onto which fishing line is wound by turning a handle 11, a compartment situated at the top of the spool to house end tackle and a counter mechanism 5 to record the number of revolutions of the spool. The number of parts of a revolution can be determined by numbers marked round the base (fig.2). The fishing line meter can be fitted with two pegs to hold it steady on soft ground.

Description

1 2355637 ANGLERS SWIM FINDER.
This invention relates to an anglers swim finder. Once an angler has baited an area which may be some distance away, it is necessary to be able to cast to that area many times with considerable accuracy, this is achieved with a swim finder and moreover can be done, Unlike the commonly used method, without the angler leaving his rods unattended, which is against enviroment agency regulations.
Essential Technical Features.
According to the present invention there is provided an anglers swim finder, comprising a base and a spool which is mounted on the base by means of a spindle, a handle by which the spool is turned and a counter mechanism which records the number of revolutions of the spool.
Example:- A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which figure I shows an exploded diagram of the swim finder from the side, the base is shown in cross section. Figure 2 shows the base of the swim finder from above without the spool.
Figure 3, shows the spool from above. Referring to the drawings the swim finder comprises a spool, No I which is mounted on a base No. 2, by means of a spindle, No. 3, the base has a counter mechanism, No. 4, which is activated by a device, No 5. which may be attached to the bottom of the spool, No. 1, there may be a recess in the base No. 6 to accomodate the device, No. 5, numbers No. 7 are marked on the base to show parts of a revolution, there is a tension screw, No. 12 at the top of the spindle, No. 3 to regulate the free movement of the spool. When in use the line runs from the rod tip up the line channet, No. 9 through the line acess slit, No. 10 and into the end tackle compartment, No. 8, figure 3. By turning the handle No. 11 line is fed onto the spool.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS.
    (1) An anglers swim finder, comprising a spool which is mounted on a base by means of a spindle, a handle by which the spool is turned,, and a counter mechanism which records the number of revolutions of the spool.
    (2) An anglers swim finder, as claimed in claim 1, where the top of the spool is recessed to form a compartment to contain the end tackle while the swim finder is in use and a slit between the recess and the outer edge of the spool to allow the line acess between spool and recess.
    (3) An anglers swim finder as claimed in cla-Hims 1 and 2, where the base is marked with numbers around the spool housing to indicate parts of a revolution corresponding to the position of the slit in the spool.
    (4) An anglers swim finder as claimed in claims 1, 2 and 3 with a tension screw at the top of the spindle which is adjustable to regulate the free movemnent of the spool.
    (5) An angler swim finder as claimed in all previous claims, which has a hole in two diaganally opposite corners of the base, to allow for two pegs to be inserted which can be pushed into soft ground.
    (6) An anglers swim finder as claimed in all previoud claims, which has a groove in the base along which, line will run from the rod tip onto the spool.
    (7) An anglers swim finder substantially as described herein with reference to fiqures I to 3 of the accompying drawing.
