Abstract
A racquet for ball sports comprises strings of square cross-section fed through string holes of square cross-section. The square string provides more "bite" on a ball producing greater spin of the ball.
Description
2355204
THE DESCRIPTION
High Spin Tennis Racquet.
Background. It is widelv acknowledged that in a Tennis Match, players obtain an advantage over their opponent if they can impart spin on the tennis ball thereby achieving a swerving trajectory of the ball during play.
Problem. In a conventional tennis racquet, the string cross section is round and in the process of pla-y-mg a stroke, the compression of the tennis ball into the round string means there is a sliding movement of the ball over the rou-nd strihie reducing the amount of spin a player can impart on the ball during play.
Essential features. The High Spin Tennis Racquet is constructed using any standard tennis racquet frame (1) but using square string (3) with a square cross section instead of the usual round string. The tennis racquet frame (1) will have square guide holes (2) that are the same size as the square string (3) thereby providing a means to prevent rotational movement of the square string (')) relative to the tennis racquet frame (1). The square string (3)) cross section profile will be positioned with the vertical (4) and horizontal (5) axis of the square string (3) in line -%,%ith the vertical (6) and horizontal (7) axis of the tennis racquet frame (1).
Introduction to the Drawing.
Drawing 1/1 illustrates a partial elevation vie-,-,.- of the High Spin Tennis Racquet. Drawing 1/1 illustrates the vertical (4) and horizontal (5) ams relationsliip of the square string (3) to the vertical (6) and horizontal (7) axis of the tennis racquet frame (1) and the square guide holes (2).
Particular example Bv utilising a square string (3) and the square guide holes (2) in the tennis racquet construction the effect of the square string (3) cross section is to acl-eve a greater amount of grip on the tennis ball and will reduce the a-mount of slip between the square string (3) and the ball thereby imparting greater spin on the tennis ball.
2.
Claims (2)
1. The distinctive technical features of the High Spin Tennis Racquet are the square string and square guide holes in the tennis racquet frame.
2. A High Spin Tennis Racquet NVill produce swerving tr;Jectonies of a tennis ball.
