Abstract
A heat pump system includes, in an operable relationship for transferring heat between an exterior atmosphere and an interior atmosphere via a fluid refrigerant: a compressor (10); an interior heat exchanger (12); an exterior heat exchanger (14); an accumulator (16); and means for heating (18, 18', 18'', 18''') the accumulator (16) and/or plumbing lines (25, 26, 27) in order to defrost the exterior heat exchanger (14).
