A lighting unit (1) comprising display means (20) for displaying graphic material (11), lighting means (13) for frontal illumination of the graphic material (11), mounting means (19) for supporting the display means (20) and suspending means (4) for suspending the lighting system (1) above the ground, the display means (20), the lighting means (13), the mounting means (19) and the suspending means (4) comprising an integral lighting and display unit.
