Description

BRAKE DEVICE FOR STROLLER The present invention relates to a brake device, and more particularly to a brake device for the rear frame of a stroller.
The closest prior art of which the applicant is aware is disclosed in his U. K.
Patent No. GB-2-297-133-B filed on January 19, 1995, entitled by"BRAKE DEVICE IN A BABY STROLLER".
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a brade device in combination with a stroller, the stroller including two rear legs, two support bases each having a first end, a mediate portion, and a second end, the first end secured to the lower end of one of the two corresponding rear legs, two shafts each secured in the mediate portion of one of the two corresponding support bases and having two ends each extending outward from the respective support base, and two pairs of rear wheels each rotatably mounted on one of the two ends of each of the two shafts, each of the rear wheels including a hub secured thereon to rotate therewith, the hub including a plurality of radially arrange ribs and containing a plurality of locking recesses each located between the two adjacent ribs.
The brake device comprises two cranks each having a first end and a second end, the first end pivotally mounted on the second end of one of the two corresponding support bases and including two opposite brake levers each extending outward and each detachably received in one of the locking recesses of the hub of each of the two rear wheels, and a linking bar having two ends each attache to the second end of one of the two corresponding cranks.
The brake device further comprises two sleeves each secured to the second end of one of the two corresponding cranks, and each slidably mounted on one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar ; and two stop stubs each mounted on the mediate portion of the linking bar.
Each of the two sleeves has a first end slidably mounted on one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar, and a second end having a dimension greater than that of the first end, and inclues a neck formed between the first end and the second end, and the brake device further comprises two washers each detachably abutting the neck of one of the two corresponding sleeves, and each secured to one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar.
Further benefits and avantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a brake device for the rear frame of a stroller in accordance with the present invention ; FIG. 2 is a side plan cross-sectional view of the brake device as shown in FIG.
1 ; FIG. 3 is a front plan cross-sectional view of the brake device as shown in FIG.
1 ; FIG. 4 is an operational view of the brake device as shown in FIG. 2 ; and FIG. 5 is an operational view of the brake device as shown in FIG. 3.
Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a brake device in accordance with the present invention can be used to a stroller which comprises a rear frame 10 including two rear legs 11, two support bases 12 each having a first end secured to the lower end of one of the two corresponding rear legs 11, a mediate portion, and a second end, two shafts 13 each secured in the mediate portion of one of the two corresponding support bases 12 and having two ends each extending outward from the respective support base 12, and two pairs of rear wheels 16 each rotatably mounted on one of the two ends of each of the two shafts 13. Each of the rear wheels 16 inclues a hub 14 secured thereon to rotate therewith. The hub 14 of each of the rear wheels 16 inclues a plurality of radially arrange ribs 140 and contains a plurality of locking recesses 142 each located between the two adjacent ribs 140.
The brake device comprises two cranks 22 each having a first end 23 and a second end, the first end 23 pivotally mounted on the second end of one of the two corresponding support bases 12 and including two opposite brake levers 24 each extending outward therefrom and each detachably received in one of the locking recesses 142 of the hub 14 of each of the two rear wheels 16, and a linking bar 20 having two ends each attache to the second end of one of the two corresponding cranks 22.
The brake device further comprises two sleeves 21 each secured to the second end of one of the two corresponding cranks 22, and each slidably mounted on one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar 20. Each of the two sleeves 21 has a first end 210 slidably mounted on one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar 20, and a second end 212 having a dimension greater than that of the first end 210, and inclues a neck 214 formed between the first end 210 and the second end 212, The brake device further comprises two washers 27 each detachably abutting the neck 214 of one of the two corresponding sleeves 21, and each secured to one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar 20.
Each of the two ends of the linking bar 20 contains a threaded bore 26 therein, and the brake device further comprises two locking bolts 28 each extending through one of the two corresponding washers 27 and each screwed into the threaded bore 26 of one of the two corresponding bends of the linking bar 20, thereby securing the washer 27 to the respective end of the linking bar 20.
The brake device further comprises two stop stubs 25 each mounted on the mediate portion of the linking bar 20.
In operation, referring to FIGS. 1-4, each of the rear wheels 16 is rotatably mounted on the respective end of each of the shafts 13 such that the stroller can be moved freely. When the movement of the stroller needs to be stoppe, the linking bar 20 is pushed downward to move each of the two sleeves 21 downward such that each of the two cranks 22 is pivoted relative to the respective support base 12, thereby moving each of the brake levers 24 from the position as shown in FIG. 2 to the positron as shown in FIG. 4 a to be received in one of the locking recesses 142 of the hub 14 of each of the two rear wheels 16, thereby stopping the rotation of each of the rear wheels 16 so as to stop the movement of the stroller. In such a manner, the movement of the stroller is easily stopped by pushing the lirlking bar'0 of the brade device downward, thereby facilitating a user to operate the brake device.
Referring to FIGS. 1-5, the rear frame 10 of the stroller further inclues two pivot bars 32 each having a first end pivotally attache to the upper end of one of the two corresponding mar legs 11, and a second end pivotally attache to a pivot base 30.
In operation, each of the two sleeves 21 is slidably mounted on one of the two corresponding ends of the linking bar 20 such that when the pivot base 30 is pulled upward from the position as shown in FIG. 3 to the position as shown in FIG. 5, the two pivot bars 32 are pivoted toward each other, thereby moving the two rear legs 11 toward each other so as to move the two pairs of rear wheels 16 toward each other by means of sliding each of the two sleeves 21 on the linking bar 20 until the first end 210 of each of the two sleeves 21 abuts the respective stop stub 25, thereby folding the rear frame 10, In such a manner, the rear frame 10 of the stroller is easily folded by means of sliding each of the two sleeves 21 on the linking bar 20, thereby facilitating a user to fold the stroller.
It should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
