Abstract

A clothes hanger comprises a rod 1 having a ring 2 at its end which enables it to be hung vertically from a hook 3. The rod has holes, slots, eyes or loops 4 at regular intervals down its length from which coathangers 5 can be hung. A handle 6 at the bottom of the rod is used to lift the rod to approximately the horizontal position where items can be attached or removed. Alternatively, the rod can be pivotally mounted on a wall and temporarily held in a horizontal position by means of a strut.

Description

A CLOTHES HANGER FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS THIS INVENTION IS CONCERNED WITH THE HANGING OF CLOTHES IN AREAS WHERE THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF WARDROBE AND/OR FLOOR SPACE AND IN A SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE WAY.
ALMOST EVERYONE IS FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH WARDROBE HANGING SPACE, ESPECIALY FOR GROWING FAMILIES AND THOSE SUCH AS STUDENTS IN TEMPORARY RENTED ACCOMMODATION WHO DON'T WANT TO BUY A WARDROBE FOR A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
THIS INVENTION SHOULD CATER FOR SUCH PEOPLE IN TURNING A SIMPLE HOOK INTO AN INEXPENSIVE HANGER FOR A NUMBER OF SHIRTS, BLOUSES OR LIGHT JACKETS.
REFERRING TO THE DRAWING THE INVENTION COMPRISES A ROD 1 HAVING A RING 2 AT ONE END THAT ENABLES IT TO BE HUNG VERTICALLY FROM A HOOK 3 ON THE WALL. DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE ROD WHICH MIGHT BE MADE OF WOOD, METAL OR ANY OTHER FAIRLY RIGID MATERIAL WOULD BE A NUMBER OF EVENLY SPACED HOLES, SLOTS OR EYES 4 FROM WHICH COATHANGERS 5 CAN BE HUNG. BY SIMPLY LIFTING THE LOWER END OF THE ROD, WHICH IS EQUIPPED WITH A HANDLE OR LOOP 6 TO APPROXIMATELY THE HORIZONTAL POSITION THE ITEMS ON THEIR HANGERS CAN BE HUNG OR REMOVED WITH THE FREE HAND. IN THE LOWERED POSITION THE ROD WOULD HOLD THE ITEMS IN A POSITION CLOSE TO THE WALL TAKING UP A MINIMUM OF SPACE. AS AN ALTERNATIVE THE ROD COULD BE SUSPENDED FROM A HINGED BRACKET THAT IS SECURELY SCREWED TO THE WALL. THIS MAY HAVE THE PROVISION FOR A STRUT OR OTHER DEVICE TO HOLD IT TEMPORARILY IN THE HORIZONTAL POSITION WHILE IT IS IN USE. REFERING TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS; FIG 1 SHOWS A FRONT VIEW OF THE HANGER IN THE STORAGE POSITION FIG 2 SHOWS A SIDE VIEW OF THE HANGER IN THE POSITION FOR HANGING AND REMOVING CLOTHES

Claims (5)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A CLOTHES HANGER FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS COMPRISING A ROD MADE OF WOOD, METAL, PLASTIC OR ANY OTHER FAIRLY RIGID MATERIAL, HAVING AT ONE END A RING ALLOWING IT TO BE HUNG FROM A HOOK.
  2. IL A HANGER AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 HAVING HOLES, SLOTS, EYES OR LOOPS AT REGULAR DISTANCES DOWN IT'S LENGTH.
  3. 3. A HANGER AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 AND 2 HAVING A HANDLE OR LOOP AT IT'S LOWER END ALLOWING IT TO BE RAISED OR LOWERED BY HAND.
  4. 4. A HANGER AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 3 HAVING A HINGED BRACKET AT ITS TOP INSTEAD OF A RING
  5. 5. A HANGER AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 4 HAVING A STRUT OR OTHER DEVICE THAT ALLOWS THE ROD TO BE TEMPORARILY HELD IN THE RAISED POSITION DURING HANGING AND REMOVING ITEMS.
