Description

2338881 THE BEWARE RIDING STICK The invention relates to a riding stick,
or whip commonly used by horse riders.
Riding sticks are currently used to aid the riders control of the horse. This modification aims to extend the use of such a whip or stick to provide an early warning safety device.
The invention is made of strong, flexible tube of plastic or glass fibre with a hollow lumen throughout.
Figure 1, illustrates the invention.
The stick consists of a hand grip (1), which contains a battery unit consisting of two AA sized batteries to power the invention. The hand grip will be bound in leather or man made material to improve rider's grip. At the end of the hand griR-is a screw cap to enable battery changes. There will be a Push button (2), incorporated in the cap to control power on and off as the rider needs.
At the joint between the hand grip (1) and the body (4), of the stick, is a loop (3)) made of leather or man made material which is used to hang the whip up when not in use, The main body of the stick (4), is coated in fluorescent colour to provide maximum visibility. The hollow lumen provides a track for wiring from the battery unit contained in the hand grip (1), to the light unit (5).
The light unit (5) is of strong, clear plastic tube containing a red light positioned to 1 give light around 360', and of a strength to be seen over a long distance. This is connected via the electrical wiring to the battery contained within the hand gn'p (1). When the button (2), is pressed the light unit (5), at the tip of the stick will flash rapidly until the button (2), is pressed again and the light switched off.

Claims (4)

CLAIMS.
1. A whip or stick which can be raised to a horizontal position with light flashing at the tip farthest from the rider's hand, to attract the attention of other road users and therefore alert them to the presence of the horse and rider.
2. The whip or stick can be used as in claim I to encourage car drivers to distance themselves as they pass the potential hazard of horse and rider.
3. The whip or stick can be left with the light flashing when weather conditions make visibility poor.
4. The whip or stick can be used as in claim 1, when sharp road bends or overhanging vegetation obscure horse and rider, therefore giving a warning of their presence.
