Abstract
A survival bag made from a material, e.g. polyethylene, produced by a spun bonded process. This construction results in a survival bag resistant to cuts and punctures, which also breathes to reduce internal condensation and is waterproof. Preferably at least one of the bag surfaces is coated with a metal, e.g. aluminum, applied by vacuum deposition, to provide improved thermal insulation.

DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a Survival Bag.
Survival bags are well known articles in the outdoor safety field. They are used by climbers, walkers, explorers, sailors, fishermen, off-shore oil workers and the armed forces as a means of protecting individuals from exposure in the event of emergency situations. Survival bags, however, pro-0de a limited degree of thermal insulation and produce excessive internal condensation of water vapour under normal confflons; of use. The existing products also offer only a limited resistance to mechanical damage and can be perforated by contact with sharp rocks, stones or other sharp objects resulting in loss of protectiom
According to the present invention there is ded a survival bag comprising a structure which is formed from a material produced by a spunbonded process. Such materials provide a breathable, mechanically strong fabric which is waterproof and resistant to puncture damage. The material may additionally be coated on at least one of its swfa= with a metal to provide improved thermal insulating properties.
A specific embodiment of the mvention wW now be described in which: - The material of the bag is formed from spunbonded polyethylene which has a thin coating of aluminium applied by vacuum deposition to at MW one of its surfaces.
