Abstract

A dowel pin of plastics material has oppositely directed toothed portions so that it may be inserted into aligned bores of two adjacent components, e.g. concrete blocks, to lock these together. The bores may be formed with internal screwthreads to give serrated edges for engagement with the toothed portions.

Description

PLASLOC DOWEL PIN This invention relates to a device that enables fastening/locking together of concrete blocks.
According to the present invention there is a dowel pin with a toothed configuration manufactured from a semi-flexible plastic and no other internal fittings are required to lock the concrete blocks together.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 (sheet 5/1) shows in perspective a concrete mould with its particular fitting to mould an internal thread which is used as a serrated edge to lock in the Plasloc dowel pin.
Figure 2 (sheet 5/2) shows the Plasloc dowel pin.
Figure 3 (sheet 5/3) shows one end of the Plasloc dowel pin knockedfmserted into a prepared concrete block.
Figure 4 (sheet 5/3) shows two concrete blocks locked together by a Plasloc dowel pin with cutaways to show the Plasloc dowel pin and internal serrations.
Referring to the drawing page 5 figure 2 the Plasloc dowel pin comprises a machined or moulded piece of polypropylene to whatever size is necessary for the load it has to carry.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS The Plasloc dowel pin can be used to lock together concrete blocks or structures and negates any use of steel or other fittings. The toothed configuration of the Plasloc dowel pin bends back as the pin is knocked in but then locks onto the serations made by the bolt threads. The adjacent concrete block is pushed onto the plastic dowel pin thus fastening the concrete blocks together.
    The more pins used - the stronger the structure.
