Abstract

A bandage applicator comprises an axle (1) around which a bandage (9) having an adhesive element (11) is wound. The axle (1) is rotatable within a handle (2), means (3) being provided to control the degree of friction between the handle (2) and the axle (1) as the bandage is unwound from the applicator.

Description

Automatic Bandage Applicator This invention relates to an automatic bandage appliance for bandages.
Until now the application of bandages has required the use of two hands and a good mobility of the fingers to bring about the successfUl unrolling of the bandages. For this reason persons with physical difficulties find serious problems in carrying out an action that could be urgent for another person, or for themselves.
In the same way, the process of bandaging until this moment, generaily means a iong peformance, and is highly dependent on the agility of the person wrlo is applying it.
We can say the same of the homogeneity and regularity of the procedure, which depends on the skill and practice of whoever carries it out and of the security of the zone to protect that until now must suffer the rolling of the bandage packet as weil as unnecesary pressure of the finaers that manipulate the bandage.
In order to scive the difficulties afore mentioned, that is to say that in order that someone can bandage himself, and to ensure that anyone can apply a bandage, although he does nct have gocd movement in his f:ngers; in order to guarantee an homologous and safe achievement, protecting a!ways the affected zone and reducina in a way very important the time necessary to execute this operation I have planned this automatic bandage applicator Which the automatic pandage applicator the process is started by placing the adhesive element 11 that is found on the end of the materi31 on an appropiate place and moving the apparatus around the zone to be protected On doing this movement cne starts a pair of forces set up by the tension of the bandage and that provokes the movement, this pair makes the axle 1, on which the bandage is rolled turn In the interior cf the handle 2 and producing the unrolling If we wish to obtain a greater tension of the bandage. it Is sufficient to press the tension regulator which will brake the turning of the axe 1. being In tris case necessary to employ mcre force ane achieving a tignter bandage.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the occompanying drawing in which Figure 1, represent a general view of the apparatus with indications of the handle 2, of the tension regulator 3, of the axle 1, of the material protector 9, and of the adhesion element 11 Figure 2 represents a front view of the axle 1. with indication of an expansion 1 a, near the upper end.
Figure 3 represents a piant view of the figure 2.
Figure 4 represents a front view of the left half of the handle; with an indication of the hole 4 for the placement of the tension regulator 3; also Indicates the hole 5 for the placement of the spring 6 the rods are incated bv 8 for the union to the other right half of the handle; and the cavity 7 and 7a to place axle 1 and its expansion la. respectiveiy Figure 5 represents a plant view of the figure 4.
Figure 6 represents a front view of the right half of the handle with indication of the empty 8a to place the rods .
Figure 7 shows a olant view of figure 7 Figure 6 Indicates a front view of the tension regulator with Indication of the circular expansion 3a and of the sping 6.
Figure 9 is a plant view of the figure 8.
Figure 10 represents a general view of the bandage which shows he adhesive element 10 that goes roled to axle 1 and united to the bandage
