Abstract

A fan device includes a motor 20 rotatably secured in a housing 10 and a number of fan blades 30 secured to the motor 20 and driven by the motor 20. The housing 10 has a number of holes 12 formed in an inner wall 11 for reducing the noise that may be generated by the motor 20 and the fan blades 30. As shown, the housing 10 includes an outer peripheral wall 15 for forming a chamber 14 between the walls 11, 15 and for receiving a noise reducing material 16. The fan blades 30 may each include one or more panels (32, figs 3, 4, not shown) of wood, plastics or metal, and one or more sheets (33) of noise reducing material (e.g. fibrous or porous materials) for reducing the noise. The panel (32) may include a number of apertures (38) for reducing the noise.

Description

FAN DEVICE HAVING A NOISE REDUCING MECHANISM The invention relates to a fan device having a noise reducing mechanism.
Typical fan devices comprise a motor rotatably received in a housing and a number of fan blades secured to the motor and rotated by the motor in order to circulate the wind. However, both the housing and the fan blades do not provide any mechanism for reducing the noise such that a great noise may normally be generated by the motor and the fan blades of the fan device.
It is accordingly an object of the present invention to provide a fan device including a noise reducing mechanism for reducing the noise that may be generated by the motor and the fan blades.
According to the present invention there is provided a fan device comprising: a) a housing including an inner wall having a number of holes, b) a motor rotatably secured in the housing and received in the inner wall, and c) a number of fan blades secured to the motor and driven by the motor. The holes of the inner wall of the housing are provided for reducing a noise generated by the motor and the fan blades.
The housing includes an outer peripheral wall for defining a chamber between the inner wall and the outer peripheral wall, the fan device further includes a noise reducing material disposed in the chamber for reducing the noise.
The fan blades each includes at least one panel and at least one sheet secured to the panel, the sheet is made of noise reducing material for reducing the noise. The panel includes a number of apertures for reducing the noise.
In the drawings: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a fan device; FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view taken along lines 2-2 of FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view taken along lines 3-3 of FIG. 2; and FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view similar to FIG.
3, illustrating another application of the fan blade.
Referring to FIGS. 1-3, a fan device comprises a housing 10 including an inner wall 11 and an outer peripheral wall 15 for forming a chamber 14 between the inner wall 11 and the outer peripheral wall 15. A motor 20 is rotatably secured in the housing 10 and received in the inner wall 11 and a number of fan blades 30 are secured to the motor 20 for being driven by the motor 20. The inner wall 11 includes a number of holes 12 for reducing the noise that may be generated by the motor 20 and the fan blades 30. A noise reducing material 16 is disposed in the chamber 14 for further reducing the noise that may be generated by the motor 20 and the fan blades 30. The noise reducing material 16 may be selected from fiber materials, reeds, straws, rice husks, or porous materials, such as foamable materials.
As shown in FIG. 2, the fan blade 30 includes one or two panels 32 which may be made of wood, plastic or metal materials, and includes one or more sheets 33 of noise reducing material secured to the panels 32 or secured between the panels 32 for further reducing the noise that may be generated by the fan blades 30. The noise reducing material sheet 33 may be selected from fiber materials, or porous materials, such as foamable materials. The panels 32 may each include a number of apertures 38 for further reducing the noise that may be generated by the fan blades 30.
Referring next to FIG. 4, two sheets 33 of noise reducing material may be secured to the upper and the lower portions of the panel 32 for reducing the noise that may be generated by the fan blades 30.
