Abstract

Washing-machines with rotary dollies, or stirrers; mangles and wringers, driving-gear for-The horizoutal shaft 6 on which the agitator is mounted is rotarily oscillated from a driving-shaft 14 by the engagement with a sprocket-wheel 7 of a chain 8, carried by a quadrant 9 which is rocked upon its pivot 10. A clutch 44 actuated by a sliding rod 43 and bifurcated lever 39 is provided to disconnect the drive. The lower roller spindle 22 is rotated either through the train 14, 17. 24, 25 or through the train 14, 17, 23, the pinions 23 . . 25 being carried in a framework 21 which can be moved into either position by a pedal-operated pin and slot arrangement 29, 30. The framework may be maintained in a vertical position so that the drive is disconnected from the rollers by causing a projection 35 to engage under the side frame of the machine. The quadrant and chain are enclosed by a guard.
