Description

ThE COLOURED TYRE WEAR INDICATOR This invention relates to a visual coloured indicator to detect tyre wear.
Tyre wear is big problem to all road users.
It is difficult to detect the amount of tyre wear from day to day.
Most motorist are not aware of the legal limits and most do not own a tread depth gauge.
This type oftyre will enable road users to visually check for excessive wear.
As the tyre wears it exposses a different colour rubber/compound. Figure one shows some examples of tyre wear and the expossed colour compound.
The coloured rubber/compound should be as bright as possible maybe illuminus or flourescent colours can be possible.
The colour compound/rubber is manufactured into the tyre at the illegal depth or just above according to the law on tread depth. The tyre will indicate a worn or illegal tyre on a moving or stationary vehicle.
The coloured compound/rubber can be manufactured into the tyre at any depth that the law specfies the wear on different areas of the tread would also indicate steering allignment problems and incorrect air pressures.
I will also be possible to incorporate the colour compound into the walls of the tyre to indicate side wall wear e.g. scuffing of kerbstones. It may also be possible to have colour tones set at different depths to indicate the amount of wear.

Claims (7)

1. The coloured tyre indicator is a different coloured rubber or any suitable material incorporated into a tyre below the surface to visually show tyre wear by reduction ofthe outer tread or wall.
2. The coloured tyre wear indicator as claimed in 1 as where the indicator is situated in sections beneath the surface or on the surface of the tyre.
3. The coloured tyre wear indicator as claimed in 1 where the indicator is situated beneath the entire surface or on the surface of the tyre.
4. The coloured tyre wear indicator as claimed in any preceding claim where the indicator has a florescent, luminus, reflective, or light enhancing, nature.
5. The coloured tyre wear indicator as claimed in any preceding claim where different tones of colour in the indicator shows degree of tyre wear.
6. The coloured tyre wear indicator as claimed in any preceding claim where the indicator is made from a fibre optic material.
7. The coloured tyre wear indicator substantially as herein described and illistrated in the accompaning drawings.
