Abstract

232,660. Phillips, T. L. Oct. 13, 1924. Cigar and cigarette holders.-A cigar or cigarette holder is provided with resilient fingers 5, which are contracted into engagement with the cigar or cigarette by a sliding ring 8. The holder comprises a mouthpiece 1, connected by a screwed spigot with a hollow cigar or cigarette reserving portion 3, which is surrounded by the resilient finders 5 having inturned and serrated ends 6. These fingers are formed by slotting longitudinally a piece of tube, which is formed integrally with a flat end 9 and clamped between the mouthpiece 1 and the member 3. A helical or other groove may be formed inside the member 3 to assist in retaining the cigar or cigarette. The ring 8 for contracting the fingers may be formed of a cylindrical or tapered piece of tube, and may be provided with a flange or with outwardly or rearwardly extending tongues by means of which it may readily be operated. A stop for the ring 8 is also clamped between the mouthpiece 1 and member 3.
