Abstract

A tow hitch for an excavator comprises a steel body member preferably having the width of the excavator, and having more than one towing point 14,15,16 positioned along its length for towing one or more pieces of equipment in a central 15 or offset 14,16 position. At each end of the steel body are mounted U-shaped attachment clamps A,B which fit over the jack legs of the excavator, fixed in place by bolts 10,12 passing behind the jack legs. The U-shaped attachment clamps A,B are offset from the body member by short pillars so that the body member is positioned stepped down from the clamps. The hitch can be easily removed when it is not needed.

Description

TOW IIITCH The present invention relates to a tow hitch for a 1800 wheeled excavator ( for example a J.C.B. ) The hitch is made of steel and its shape seen in tbe accompanying drawings annex A & B The are two points where it is anchored to the excavator A & B this is on the jack legs above the sliding leg and below the light unit. Each anchor point A & B has two bolts to its rear A 10 & 11 and B 12 & 13.
These go through the hitch secured by nuts from each anchor point forwardly is an arm which itself is joined to the other arm by a bar. On the bar there are three towing points 14,15,16. 14 & 16 are located in front of each arm, 15 is located on the bar half way between points 14 & 1 & Annex B shows bolts 12 & 13 securing the tow hitch to the jack leg and tow point 16 with tow pin 20.
