Abstract

A hand machine tool has a base plate (82), which may be placed onto a workpiece and comprises upwardly bent, parallel walls (86, 88) provided with recesses (92), in which a guide rule (94), of a parallel guide (95), is displaceable and lockable relative to the base plate (82). The upwardly bent side walls (86) have recesses (92), which are arranged in alignment and into which the guide rule (34, 64, 94, 114) is insertable. The rear wall (88) carries an inwardly curved leaf spring (29, 88), which is supportable against the adjacent edge (93), of the inserted guide rule. A handle piece 90 allows movement of the leaf spring. The leaf spring and edge (93) may have interlocking detents for positive engagement. (Fig 6, not shown).

Description

1 1 Hand machine tool with parallel stQp
Background art
2319987 Ile invention proceeds from a hand machine tool according to the preamble of claim 1.
A hand machine tool according to EP 0 157 005 is already known, m which the hand machine tool in the form of a jig saw is provided with a parallel stop, which passes through recesses in upwardly bent side walls of the base plate of the jig saw and is releasably arrestable relative to the base plate by means of a clamping device with a clamping screw, which device is fitted into said base plate.
Said solution has the advantage that the clamping device together with the parallel stop may be detached from the jig saw when no jobs requiring a parallel stop are to be carried out. The clamping device is however a separate part, which is relatively expensive to construct and the clamping screw of which has to be turned for the purpose of release or arrest.
Advantages of the invention In contrast the hand machine tool according to the invention having the characterizing features of claim 1 has the advantage that no separate clamping device is required for arresting and releasing the parallel stop on the hand machine tool so that, without separate turning of a clamping screw, the parallel stop is adjustable by sliding back and forth 'm the manner of a ratchet.
Because the clamping means is worked into the base plate and takes the form of a leaf spring provided with a handle bent like a hook, the base plate or the entire hand machine tool is inexpensive to manufacture and light, the 2 clamping means enabling particularly smooth, rapid, continuous adjustment of the parallel stop.
Because the leaf spring is integrated into the rear wall of the base plate, the base plate and hence the entire hand tool is particularly light and easy to handle.
Because the rear wall in the region where it bends away firom the base plate has a slot-like recess parallel to the base plate, the integrated leaf spring may be manufactured with particular ease, e.g. by punching.
Because the recesses for passage of the guide rule are undercut in the wall, the inserted guide rude is prevented firom escaping in an upward direction and is therefore 'm a simple manner protected against loss.
Because the leaf spring at the side directed towards the guide rule has a least one oblique surface, which is supported against the guide rule and endeavours to press the guide rule down onto the base plate, the parallel stop is protected agamist loss also at the other longitudinal side.
Because the leaf spring and the guide rule are designed so as to be positively engageable one into the other, e.g. with meshing recesses and/or projections, a particularly displacement-proof arresting of the parallel stop is possible.
Drawings Embodiments of the mvention are illustrated in the drawings and described in detail below.
Of the drawings, Figure 1 shows a jig saw with the parallel stop according to the invention, Figure 2 a three-dimensional view of a circular hand saw with a parallel stop according to the invention, Figure 3 an exploded view of a base plate with an associated parallel stop, Figure 4 a sectional view according to Figure 3 during insertion of the parallel stop, Figure 5 the longitudinal section 3 according to Figure 4 with the parallel stop latched into the base plate and Figure 6 an exploded view similar to Figure 3 with a positively latchable parallel stop.
Descniption of the embodiments Figure 1 is a three-dimensional view of a jig saw 10 having a motor housm'g 12, which serves as a main handle and on which a gearbox 14 is flangemounted. The gearbox 14 carries, mi its top region, a knob-like handle 16 serving as an auxiliary handle and, in the downward-directed region, a lifting rod 18 which carries a saw blade 20 for operation with an up-and-down motion. The gearbox 14 is arranged so as to be capable of swivelling by means of a joint 24 on a base plate 22 and is adjustable by means, which are not shown in detail, into different angular positions of the saw blade 20 relative to the base plate 22. The base plate 22 carries upwardly bent walls 26 which, closely adjacent to the rear wall 28, carry upwardly open recesses 32 into which a parallel stop 35 is insertable by its guide rule 34 and arrestable in a displaceable manner. On the right in the drawing, the guide rule 34 carries a lateral stop piece 36, which is intended for application against a guide edge, e.g. the outside edge of a board which is to be cut, and by means of which the jig saw 10 may be guided parallel to said edge during sawing, thereby enabling parallel, straight cuts to be produced. The guide rule 34 is supported by its narrow side 33, which is adjacent to the rear wall 28, against a leaf spring 29, which is supported close against the rear wall 28 and arranged captively thereon. The leaf spring 29 is curved and preloaded towards the narrow side 33, with the result that the guide rule 34 or the entire parallel stop 35 is clamped firmly relative to the base plate 22.
When the leaf spring 29 is pulled by its hook-like handle 30 away from the narrow side 33 of the guide rule 34, the guide rule 34 may easily be slid back and forth continuously and without resistance until the desired position of the lateral stop piece 36 relative to an intended tool action line is reached.
4 Figure 2 shows a circular hand saw 40 havm'g a motor housmig 42, which carries an upwardly directed handle 46 and a saw blade housing 44. The saw blade housing 44 covers the top region of a saw blade 50 which, at the bottom, is overlapped by a swivel hood 5 1. The saw blade housing 44 in the bottom region is pivotally connected by a Joint 54 to a base plate 52. Different mitre angles are adjustable by displacing the saw blade housmig 44 together with the motor housing 42 and the saw blade 50 relative to the base plate 52 in a manner which is not described in detail. The base plate 52 has two parallel, vertical side walls 56 extending parallel to the feed direction. The side walls 56 verge into an upwardly bent front and rear wall 57 and 58 respectively. The side walls 56 each carry, adjacent to the rear wall 58, an upwardly open guide opening 62 into which a guide rule 64 of a parallel stop 65 is inserted.
The guide rule 64 at its end remote from the machine carries a lateral stop piece 66 which is to be applied, for supported guidance of the circular hand saw 40, against a guide edge (not shown), e.g. agamist a guide rail or an outside edge of a workpiece which is to be cut. The guide rail 64 is supported by its narrow side 63 m a releasably clampable manner agamist a curved leaf spring 59, which is fastened captively to the rear wall 58.
Figure 3 shows a partial section through a further embodiment of a base plate 82 having two parallel side walls 86 bent up at right angles and a rear wall 88, which is designed as a curved leaf spring and is partially separated from the base plate 82 by a parallel longitudinal slot 89 situated in the region where the wall 88 bends away from the base plate 82. The wall 88, which is curved mi the direction of the guide openings 92, may therefore be deflected relatively easily by operating the handle 90 so that the parallel stop 95 is easily adjustable continuously into the desired position.
The upwardly open guide openings 92 have, at the left side, a slotlike, undercut-like, detent recess 98 into which the left narrow side 93' of the guide rule 94 may engage so as to be protected agamist loss.
Figure 4 shows a cutout from Figure 3 partially in longitudinal section, which clearly illustrates the contour of the lateral, upwardly open guide openings 92 mi the base plate 82 of the detent recess 98 and the function of the rear wall 88 serving as a leaf spring. The guide rule 94 is placed obliquely by its left narrow side 9Yinto the detent recess 98 and is supported by its right narrow side 93 in an oblique position against the edge of the wall 88 directed towards it. The wall 88 at the top and bottom carries oblique surfaces 97 so that mi the manner shown in Figure 4, the guide rule 94 is insertable with particular ease from above into the guide openings 92.
In Figure 5, the guide rule 94 has been inserted ready for operation into the guide opening 92 and is supported by the top edge of its right narrow side 93 against the bottom oblique surface 97 of the wall 88. The oblique surface 97 endeavours to press the top edge of the narrow side 93 of the guide rule 94 down onto the base plate 82 and thereby prevents the parallel stop 95 from escaping in an upward direction and from becornmig lost.
By pulling the hooked handle 90 of the wall 88 to the right in the drawing, away from the parallel stop 95, the clamping pressure agaffist the guide rule 94 may be relieved and the latter may easily be continuously displaced into a desired position of the lateral stop piece 96.
Figure 6 shows an exploded view substantially corresponding to the view according to Figure 3 although, mi a departure from said view, a parallel stop 115 carries a guide rule 114, the right narrow side 113 of which carries a regular arrangement of recesses 120' and projections 119'. A rear wall 108, which as Mi Figure 3 is likewise designed as a leaf spring, mi a corresponding manner carries recesses 120 and a projection 119 for engagement into the recesses 120' of the guide rule 114. By pullmig back the wall 108 using the hooked handle 110, the 6 parallel stop 115 may be displaced smoothly and adjustably like a ratchet mi the guide openings 112 until the desired distance of the lateral stop piece 116 from the base plate 102 is reached. Instead of the rear wall 108, the front wall (not shown) and - at a suitable distance therefrom - the guide openings 112 of the side walls 106 may be arranged in such a way that the parallel stop 115 is supported adjustably relative to the front wall.
