Abstract

A hard-stone soft fruit de-stoner has a multi-clawed (1) end which pierces the fruit skin at the stem joint behind which is the fruit stone. The clawed end (1) of the tool centralises on the end of the stone (5) and aligns the tool and stone so that the stone can be pushed out of the fruit. The fruit (4) is left whole except for a central hole where the tool has penetrated.

Description

HARD-STONE FRUIT DE-STONER This invention relates to a de-stoner for a hard-stoned soft fruit.
The de-stoning of soft fruit (e.g. plums) is normally carried out in the domestic and catering fields by cutting open the fruit with a knife and removing the stone by hand. By this method the juice from the fruit oozes constantly on to the hands of the operator and the utensils being used, making an uncomfortable sticky work environment. The stones have to be handled into a basin by hand.
According to the present invention there is provided a multi-clawed stone locator at one end of an elongated body and a knob handle at the other end.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the de-stoner.
Figure 1A shows a cross section of the claw end Figure 1B shows an end view ofthe claws Figure 2 illustrates the de-stoner having penetrated the stem end of the fruit and located on the stone.
Figure 3 shows the de-stoner penetrated through the fruit and the stone ejected.
Referring to the drawing, the de-stoner, which may be of metal, Figure I comprises a multi-clawed stone locator (1), an elongated body (2) and a knob handle (3).
In order to remove the stone from the fruit Figure 2, the operator, with the plum in one hand, pushes the clawed end (1) of the de-stoner through the centre of the stem end of the fruit (4) and locates the stone (5) in the clawed end (1).
The operator pushes the de-stoner Figure 3 until the stone (5) is removed from the fruit (4).

Claims (3)

1. A de-stoner for hard-stoned fruit comprising an elongated body having at one end a multi-pronged stone locator and at the opposite end a knob handle.
2. A de-stoner as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the locator comprises three circumferentially-spaced prongs.
3. A de-stoner substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
