Clamps.-For clamping together wooden &c. rods or the like to form rustic work, bamboo furniture, &c., a clamp is used which is adapted to enable two rods &c. to be clamped at adjustable angles while the are secured together by nailing, the cramp being constructed to permit ready insertion of the nails. As applied to a C-clamp in which one of the jaws 14 is mounted on a screw 12, and the other jaw is integral with the C-part 10, the jaw 14 is rotatably mounted at the end of the, screw 12 and is formed with two pairs of V-shaped recesses 24, 26; 23, 25, either pair of which can receive one of the rods to be secured together. The other jaw is formed of two fixed arcuate parts 15, 16, which constitute the upper part of the C-part 10 and are provided with three pairs of coacting V-recesses 19, 20; 18, 21; 17, 22, the lines joining the centres of the recesses being radial to the axis of the screw 12. A rod can be received between either pair of recesses in the upper jaw, and can be secured at its desired angle to a rod secured in either of the recesses of the lower jaw. Nails can be inserted between the jaws 15, 16, and the jaw 14 is hollow so that the nail can pass right through the rod held by the lower jaw. The lower jaw may be formed with one pair of recesses only, and these may be rounded. The construction of the clamp may be varied by constructing both jaws similar to 14, or both similar to 15, 16.
