Abstract

A mobile work station comprises a main frame 1 having a back 2 and having wheels 6 at a lower end. Hinged to the main frame at hinge points 7 is a smaller frame 8 with legs at the bottom. Cross-bracing 9 enables the work station to stand alone when hinged to the in-use position. A work surface 10 is hinged to the work station and can be pivoted to a horizontal in-use position where it is supported by brackets 14. Brackets 3,4 enable the storage of large tools while a rectangular portion 11 enables the storage of smaller tools. A handle 5 attached to the top of the main frame assists in the portability of the work station. The work station may be stored in a folded condition against an upstanding surface with the provision of a hinged lid (13 fig 3) attached to a rectangular receptacle (12, fig 3).

Description

MOBILE WORK-STATION The invention relates to a folding mobile work station that can provide a permanent stowage for tools whether the station is in use or not, and a working surface when in use.
Many working activities are inherently laborious because they are conducted in an environment that does not afford them assistance by way of convenient tool stowage and working surface.
Accordingly much physical movement of body and tools is incurred.
Tools for every day use come in a wide range of sizes, this is true for tools that compliment particular activities in close proximity to one another such as gardening.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a compact, secure and permanent stowage for a variety of tools that enables tools to be conveyed to the work-site. That once at the work-site can unfold to provide a stable working surface in support of work activities.
According to the present invention there is provided a rectangular wheeled folding framework housing a large tools container and an enclosed small tools container. Also provided is a hinged flat working surface and hinging support legs that stabilise the work station when in use and also provides support for the work surface.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the work station in its open position when in use at work site.
Figure 2. is a view looking at the long handled large tool stowage facility of the work station.
Figure 3. shows a side view of the work station and illustrates how the work station can be compactly stowed in an external, suitably manufactured angular housing.
Referring to the drawing and Fig 1 the work station comprises a wheeled 6, framework 1 and back support 2, with large tool housing 3 and 4, and, rectangular small tool stowage 11 secured to the framework 1 and back support 2 by for example, screw, rivet or similar means (not shown). Hinging legs 8 swing out and locate with shaped hinged work surface 10 in the on-site working position. Hinging legs 8 and horizontal support bars 9 (Fig 2) combine with brackets 14 to provide support and stability to the work station and work-surface.
From the internally (shed, garage or like) stowed position the work station with tools is simply taken from its upright position, held by way of handle 5 and wheeled to work-site.
Hinging legs 8 and hinging support bracket 14 rotate and locate with working surface 10 to form a stable work station. After use tools are returned to their housing and the sequence reversed for the station to be stowed away.
For external stowage (refer to Fig 3) to provide a weather shield a rectangular angular framework 12 and hinging lid 13 made to house the work station and secure to a vertical surface. The work station swivels into the housing and is held in position by hinging lid 13 and secured in place by clasps, bolts or similar device (not shown).
The work station can be used in a number of different working environments. The structural robustness of the work station would be adjusted to suit any particular use and environment.

Claims (6)

1. A folding mobile work-station providing a means to house a range of tools (internally or externally) upright in a compact and secure manner. The body of the work-station allows all the tools housed to be transported conveniently to the work site where upon unfolded a stable flat working surface is provided by a hinging top which also acts as the small tools container cover.
2. A foLding mobile work-station as claimed in claim 1 wherein guide means are provided by the hinging support legs co-operable with hinging work surface to facilitate the location point of the work surface, which is required to hold the hinging support legs in position.
3. A folding mobile work-station as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the hinging support legs and hinging support bracket co-operate with hinging work surface to provide a firm support for the work surface.
4. A folding mobile work-station as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 or claim 3 wherein large tools are housed vertically by means of a support shelf and steadying bar at the extreme ends of the tools in order to achieve a secure stowage.
5. A folding mobile work-station as claimed in any proceeding claim that is folded into a vertically secured weather shielded frame work with a lockable hinged catchment to effect a safe and space efficient stowage.
6. A folding mobile work-station substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1, 2, and 3 of accompanying drawing.
