Switches, quick-action; sparking, preventing. -The layer of insulating material g located between the non-current-carrying and currentcarrying parts of the control-member b for intercepting the arc, as described in the parent Specification, is employed in a switch action wherein the extent of movement of the contact-arm is increased in relation to that of the operating member. The tumbler switch action shown comprises a dolly pivoted to the bridge at d and to the contact-member b at k. The contactmember is further pivoted at c to a link f controlled by a compression spring f<2> so that the pivot c may move slightly in a substantially vertical plane. The tumbler carries the mechanism across a dead-centre position and the spring f<2> produces a quick action.
